Peaceful protesters gathered in downtown Lake Worth on June 23, 2020 to fight against racism and continue to say that Black Lives Matter.
On Tuesday, June 23, beginning at 5 p.m., members of multiple organizations took part in a peaceful rally and protest outside Lake Worth Beach City Hall, about the negotiations the City was having with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Speakers wanted the City to have discussions with the police about divesting from punitive institutions and over militarized policing methods, as well as establishing safe and accessible methods for reporting misconduct, a fully-funded independent police review board and body cameras for all officers and a transparent budget. After speakers spoke, many of them took to the streets outside city hall.
