Nationally recognized artist Kodak Black announced he teamed up with Greenacres Nissan to gift a recent graduate a free car ahead of Kodak Black Day: Car Show Edition during a recent press conference.
Kodak Black is no stranger to philanthropic gestures. The young rapper has a documented history of assisting families of fallen officers, donating $100,000 to Nova Southeastern University, financially contributing towards Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, and partaking in grassroots initiatives like going door to door donating air conditioners and food to those in need.
Now, he hopes that gifting a car to a deserving high school graduate from an underserved community will change the direction of a student’s life and college endeavors.
“The student is driven. He’s ambitious. He has goals. The car is going to help him get to his destiny faster,” said Kodak.
Although Kodak Black and the team have already chosen the student via Tu Es Bella, an organization founded by media personality and philanthropist Stichiz that supports high school students transitioning to college, the recipient is still unaware. They will find out during the Kodak Black Day: Car Show Edition event on Sunday.
“The student thinks they won tickets to come to Kodak Black Day, but when they get there, they’ll find out. The car will be ready with a bow,” said Francky Pierre-Paul, who supports many of Kodak Black’s charitable campaigns.
The donated Nissan won’t be the only decorated car at the event.
Kodak Black Day: Car Show Edition is being held in Pompano this Sunday, June 11, from 12p-6p at Pompano Community Park and will showcase 100 of the hottest cars and bikes from across the nation competing to win a cash prize. The second annual event will have live music, food, a Kid Zone, and vendors. Tickets are still on sale at www.kodakblackday.com

Additionally, it capitalizes on the beauty of our waterfront views as it steps away from the Intracoastal. With the help of our community and partners, I am confident that we can win again.”
A USA TODAY 10 Best panel of food and travel experts determined their top 20 farmers markets, and now the public will select the top 10 winners. The final rankings will be announced on July 14, 2023. USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice awards highlight the best of the best in contests covering categories such as destinations, food and drink, hotels, and things to do.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket wrapped its 28th season in April, marking its largest yet with more than 110 vendors. It expanded its physical footprint to the 200 block of Clematis Street to accommodate the growth. The seasonal market’s mission is to provide the community with seasonal access to locally grown fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, plants, and agricultural products. The Market supports the southeast Florida agricultural community and stimulates agricultural development, particularly in Palm Beach County, by providing an outlet for locally grown crops and specialty products. For “An Evening with Donna Singer and the Diamond Jazz Orchestra Paying Tribute to Count Basie,” Singer said the audience should anticipate a night filled with inspiration, rhythm and above all else, dancing.
Q: What should the audience expect from the evening?
Singer: The music will be songs that Count Basie is well known for. He was a band leader, who inspired so many others, including Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra, as well as a musician, so we will be focusing on his charts. We are paying tribute to the greatness of Count Basie.
Q: Where else have you performed this tribute?
Singer: I’ve been performing for more than 30 years, which includes formal training at The Julliard School. And I’ve been singing with Big Band orchestras since the 1990s in Fort Lauderdale. I decided to form the Diamond Orchestra, hand-picked by me, because I love singing with an orchestra and the ‘surroundness’ of that music. Since we came into being, this will be our sixth or seventh concert.
Q: Will there be anything different about this particular concert?
Singer: We plan to incorporate some instrumentals, arranged by Count Basie. For the first time, we are really going to feature the orchestra. Some songs Basie that arranged, I will be singing.
Q: Why the Spady Museum partnership?
A: We collaborated together at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast, then in partnership with Arts Garage, then again via Joan Cartwright, a mutual friend of mine and Museum Director Charlene Farrington. I wanted to do a fundraiser, so we designed this evening. Charlene was right there, loving the idea. We met each other’s energy.

The event brought together families raising Jewish children for a day of fun and Israel-themed activities, including a petting zoo, an obstacle bounce house, and a rock wall designed to mimic climbing Masada.
“In addition to arts and crafts, bounce houses, a petting zoo and many other activities, all of us took a quick “trip” to Israel,” said Robin Cremer, a PJ Library® parent. “We traveled to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. My family even left a note at the ‘Western Wall’. My children were able to feel that they were at the most religious site in the world for Jewish people.”
Locally, PJ Library serves more than 6,000 parents, children, grandparents and caregivers. In the 10 years since it’s inception in South Palm Beach County, the program has given away more than 216,000 books.
“My family has been involved with PJ Library for the past 10 years. It first started out with the opportunity of receiving meaningful books monthly. It’s now a race to the mailbox to see who gets a book and what book it is,” said PJ Library® parent Stacee Stock.
PJ Library continues to grow in South Palm Beach County with new families joining the program each month. We are engaging and educating the next generation of families raising Jewish children both here and around the globe. June 7, 2023 (ATLANTA) — Accomplished jazz pianist, composer, arranger, educator, and producer Dr. Greg Satterthwaite announces his sophomore album release Savannah Blue, a blend of his Jamaican roots mixed with jazz classics and original compositions, out June 9, 2023.
The Savannah Blue tour will kick off in West Palm Beach, Fla. on June 21, 2023, with a free community concert at Palm Beach Lakes High School as part of the School District of Palm Beach County’s 29th Annual African, African American, and Caribbean Studies Summer Institute.
Satterthwaite’s album Savannah Blue features ensemble members Quentin Baxter (drummer), Delbert Felix (bassist), Rod Harris Jr. (guitarist), and Derrick James (saxophonist).
The 2023 South Arts Jazz Road Tours artist and University of Georgia jazz professor says: “I truly appreciate the opportunity to uplift, share, and build community through such a rich American art form, thus the album Savannah Blue is my contribution to sustaining the amazing art form known as jazz.”
Savannah Blue pulls from inspirations of Satterthwaite’s Jamaican heritage, his passion for honoring the great legacy of jazz music, and creating original compositions that represent sophistication, memorable melodies, tranquil harmonies, and gritty swing.
The title of the album pays homage to Savannah, Ga., where Satterthwaite found an abundance of arts & culture and the blue waters from the Atlantic Ocean. Thus, the name Savannah Blue was realized.
Through connecting with the phenomenal Savannah, Ga.-based native jazz bassist, Delbert Felix in 2022, Satterthwaite conducted his inaugural Savannah performance at Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant, marking his now-forever connection with the amazing city. The album’s title track “Savannah Blue” artistically signifies the musical journey of performing in Savannah with hard-hitting swing, and dynamic solos from band members.
Satterthwaite grew up in South Florida. Starting his first headlining tour in West Palm Beach, Fla. is very sentimental to him—where his musical journey began—and ending the tour in the Metro Atlanta area, where he now resides, is a full circle moment. He is connecting the dots of performing in West Palm Beach, Fla. for the school district he graduated from (School District of Palm Beach County – A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts). There, he hopes to be able to perform for students, teachers, and community members that have never seen him perform and reflect the impact of a quality arts education on a student’s life.
The next stop on the tour will be in Savannah, Ga. at Good Times Jazz Bar and Restaurant. This is an important stop on the tour due to the opportunity to perform two consecutive nights at a reputable and notable jazz venue. Patrons from all over the country visit historic Savannah, Ga. and support this venue due to its commitment to offer live, high quality, excellent jazz music.
The tour will end with a performance at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta, Ga. The tour choices represent a full-circle journey for him and his path as an artist.
South Arts Jazz Road Tours are made possible with funds from the Doris Duke Foundation with additional support from the Mellon Foundation.
Melodic, soulful, and smooth, Dr. Greg Satterthwaite brings an energy and touch to the piano that has become his signature sound. As a jazz artist, Satterthwaite brings forth improvisational music that speaks to who he is as a performer and composer. His performances are rooted in his passion to continue to uphold the legacy and rich tradition of jazz music and the pioneers and innovators that created such a phenomenal art form.
Graduating from some of the nation’s most prestigious jazz programs, Satterthwaite earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas in Jazz Piano Performance, a Master of Arts in Commercial Music from Florida Atlantic University, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. Satterthwaite is an Assistant Professor of Jazz Piano and African American Studies at the University of Georgia. He has studied with Stephen Scott, Ron Miller, Pat Coil, Dave Meder, Quincy Davis, Brad Leali, and Lynn Seaton. His educational experiences have impacted his teaching philosophy as he brings forth the knowledge, observations, and backgrounds of the educators, artists, and creative makers that he has interacted with and learned from over the years. As a scholarly contribution to the field, Satterthwaite presented “Beyond Fourths and Pentatonics: A Critical Analysis of Selected Recordings of McCoy Tyner “1962 to 1963” at the national 2021 Jazz Education Network Conference.
Satterthwaite has performed at festivals and venues including the Swan City Piano Festival, Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, SunFest, the Velvet Note, Good Times Jazz Bar & Restaurant, the University of South Carolina, and the Murchison Performing Arts Center to name a few. In 2022, he performed with the Marcus Lewis Big Band: Brass and Boujee during the 2022 Jazz Education Network national conference. Additionally, he has either performed or recorded with Grammy winning and nominated artists including Terreon Gully, Quentin Baxter, Rodney Whitaker, Curtis Lundy, and Delbert Felix. Satterthwaite arranged and composed all songs on his debut album “Who I Am,” which can be heard on major music streaming platforms, and his sophomore album “Savannah Blue,” is to be released June 9, 2023. He is the co-founder of JazzSpire, a platform that inspires, lifts, and brightens everyday life through the arts.

The Florida Federation of Garden Clubs (FFGC) annually supports the Unsolicited Landscape Design Award program to recognize well-designed and maintained landscapes in the public or private sector in each District of the state. The meaning behind the “unsolicited” title is that the nominees are not applying for the award themselves, but someone else recognizes it is a landscape of merit, and worthy of consideration.
This year, PapiChulo was nominated by Wellington Garden Club to receive the Unsolicited Landscape Award in the Small Business category.
Candidates for this award are submitted each fall by Garden club members, especially graduates of the National Garden Club (NGC) Landscape Design School. Applications are sent to the District Chairman for eligibility and consideration. Judges who have completed NGC’s Landscape Design School visit and evaluate the sites nominated. The highest scoring nominee in each category is the winner.
The selection of PapiChulo as the 2023 winner in the Small Business category was announced on April 27 at the FFGC District X Spring meeting. Shortly thereafter, the award was presented to PapiChulo by Stormi Bivin, District Award Chairman and WGC Club President Carol Ralph.

“Our Annual 4th on Flagler celebration is rich with tradition,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “From our Military Honor Ceremony to our impressive 18-minute fireworks display, the City of West Palm Beach’s Independence Day Celebration is one of the best in the Country. I hope everyone will plan to join and enjoy our beautiful waterfront and plentiful activities.”
The event features three stages of music, an annual Military Honor Ceremony, a kids’ entertainment zone (featuring inflatable games and bounce houses and make-and-take crafts and activities), roving entertainment sponsored by FPL (including stilt walkers, jugglers and magicians), food and refreshments for purchase and an 18-minute fireworks display by Pyrotecnico over the Intracoastal Waterway. Additionally, 4th on Flagler will be the start and end point for the annual Bill Bone 5K.
More than 50,000 people are expected to attend 4th on Flagler. People who prefer to celebrate at home can watch the fireworks display and a special show by tuning into WBPF 25 News from 9 – 9:30 p.m. The musical lineup is as follows:
