Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Kicks Off 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Season

0

Helping girls across the region unbox brighter futures for themselves

Lake Worth, Florida (January 30, 2025) – Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida has kicked off the sweetest time of the year with the 2025 Girl Scout Cookie® season, inviting fans everywhere to satisfy their cravings while supporting girls as they build their entrepreneurial skills and strive toward brighter futures. This beloved season returns in full swing, promising both classic favorites and innovative opportunities for girls to achieve their goals.

This year’s lineup features the iconic flavors fans know and love, including Thin Mints®, Samoas®, and Tagalongs®. However, cookie enthusiasts should take note: 2025 marks the final season for the much-loved Girl Scout S’mores® cookie, so this is the last chance to savor this treat.

When girls participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world, they learn essential business and leadership skills, including goal setting, money management, decision-making, people skills and business ethics. Each box of cookies sold not only helps to support girls’ ambitions but also strengthens their courage, confidence and character as they take on new challenges and embrace life-changing experiences.

“Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, our girls develop skills that prepare them to take on the world,” said Lisa Johnson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. “Every cookie purchase fuels unique opportunities for Girl Scouts to explore their passions, make an impact in their communities and gain experiences they’ll carry for a lifetime.”

Every dollar from cookie sales stays local, helping Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida troops fund inspiring activities, including outdoor adventures, service projects and travel opportunities. Community members are encouraged to support their local Girl Scouts by ordering cookies or visiting a cookie booth near them. Girl Scout Cookies are on sale in South Florida now through March 2.

How to Purchase Girl Scout Cookies in 2025

From a Girl Scout You Know: Reach out directly to a Girl Scout to purchase cookies either in person or online.

Use the Cookie Finder Tool: Visit https://www.gssef.org/en/cookies/find-cookies.html to find a booth near you.

Online Orders: Starting February 21, those who do not know a Girl Scout will be able to enter their zip code into the Cookie Finder to purchase cookies for direct shipment to your home.

In addition to supporting Girl Scouts locally, community members can participate in the 17th annual Cookies for the Military program. This initiative allows customers to donate cookies to service members both domestically and overseas, sending them a comforting “taste of home.” Last year, more than 57,798 boxes were donated, and Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida aims to reach 75,000 boxes in 2025. Since the program began, over 813,000 boxes have been shipped through partnerships with nonprofit organizations that provide care packages and support to troops and their families, including Forgotten Soldiers, Operation Homefront, the American Legion, and Soldiers’ Angels.

To support Cookies for the Military, donations can be made by purchasing a box ($6) or case ($72) from a Girl Scout or by visiting www.cookiesforthemilitary.org.

PALM BEACH COUNTY FOOD BANK RETURNS WITH 12TH ANNUAL EMPTY BOWLS PALM BEACH

0

Tickets and donations will support the 1 in 9 hungry neighbors in Palm Beach County

Carrie Bradburn/CAPEHART

(Palm Beach, Fla.) – Savor the flavor of giving back! On Friday, February 21, the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB) is returning with its 12th Annual Empty Bowls Palm Beach at Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea to remind supporters “to eat simply, so others can simply eat.” Since its inception, Bethesda-by-the-Sea has underwritten the event in its entirety, with overwhelming support from the community, so that every dollar raised to attend the event directly supports the PBCFB.

Empty Bowls is a national grassroots event that raises money for hunger relief. Guests will share a basic meal of freshly baked bread from Old School Bakery, signature soups donated by local restaurants, water and a delectable bake sale all served by community leaders and local celebrities.

“Currently, one-in-nine residents are projected to be food-insecure — and every dollar raised at Empty Bowls provides five meals to support our community partners that specifically serve Palm Beach County,” said Jamie Kendall, CEO of PBCFB. “In 2024, we opened our new 24,000 square-foot community kitchen expansion, which will act as a launching pad to addressing the root causes of hunger and surpassed the one-million-dollar mark for funds raised across 11 years of Empty Bowls Palm Beach. So, this year’s signature event at the Church of Bethesda is especially exciting as we bring more of our Palm Beach supporters into the conversation of how we are reducing the empty bowls that local residents face.”

With approximately 173,000 food-insecure residents throughout Palm Beach County, PBCFB procures food from grocery stores, farmers, food distributors, wholesalers and other sources and distributes it to over 200 local community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens and schools. In 2024, PBCFB distributed nearly 13 million meals to over 193,000 residents experiencing hunger.

Restaurants that have provided soup booths in the past include The Ben West Palm, E.R. Bradley’s Saloon, The Breakers Palm Beach, The Colony Palm Beach Hotel, The Lord’s Place Cafe Joshua, Field of Greens, Pistache, Ravish Off Ocean, Renato’s Palm Beach, Trevini Ristorante and more. Also, this year’s notable sponsors include Anne & Chris Flowers, Debbie & Michael Pucillo, DSS, Inc., Florida Power & Light, J.P. Morgan Wealth Management Palm Beach Gardens and Velocity Community Credit Union.

Guests can purchase tickets in advance for $40 per order, which provides unlimited soup tastings, a bread roll from Old School Bakery, bottle of water, cookie, goodie bag and one hand-painted ceramic bowl (while supplies last).

To purchase a ticket, please visit pbcfoodbank.org/emptybowlspalmbeach. PBCFB is located at 701 Boutwell Rd Suite A-2, Lake Worth Beach, FL. To volunteer, partner, donate, host a food drive, or for more information, visit pbcfoodbank.org or call 561-670-2518.

Palm Beach County – The Wisdom Warrior Challenge, a Florida-based nonprofit focused on age-inclusive track races, is making a strong comeback this year by offering 21 events for adults aged 50 and over starting in March. With races ranging from 50 to 1600 meters, the Challenge encourages seniors to stay active, socialize, celebrate their vitality, and challenge the common myth that aging means slowing into a sedentary lifestyle. These events are taking place across Florida, with two additional races in North Carolina, expanding the reach and impact of this inspiring initiative.

To ensure that everyone can join, the Challenge is designed with inclusivity in mind, welcoming seniors of all capabilities to take part. Each race features teams organized into categories: Independent Living Communities, 55+ Communities, Assisted Living Communities, and the Freelance Race division which is open to the general public. There are specific divisions for participants using assistive equipment such as canes, walkers, or wheelchairs and the only qualification is being 50 or older.

If you are over the age of 50 and are interested in participating, I encourage you to do so!”

Revitalize Your Passion This Valentine’s Day with the DRIP BaR Royal Palm Beach’s Vitality Drip Therapy for Increased Libido

0

By Gianna Picard

Valentine’s Day is a well-known holiday, focused on celebrating love and affection – involving sweet chocolates, delectable wines, and special dinner dates to spark the mood. With the month of love already here, the DRIPBaR in Royal Palm Beach is shedding light on one of the programs offered at the facility – tailored to enhancing sexual libido for an increased sex drive in both men and women.

The Vitality IV drip therapy is designed to increase blood flow and heart health, as well as stimulate hormone secretion, support arousal, and of course, increase libido. The Vitality formula consists of important vitamins and minerals to help maintain sexual health. Specifically, with the blended mixture of Magnesium Chloride, B12, Taurine, Ascorbic Acid, B-complex, Arginine, Calcium Chloride, and Carnitine.

Altogether, this comprehensive mixture is tailor-made for someone seeking to combat the symptoms of aging or decreased energy levels and those who are seeking ways to rekindle the spark in their intimate relationship. Below, we’ve attached what each component of the Vitality mixture consists of and what it does to the body.

  1. Magnesium Chloride
  • Has the ability to boost and regulate energy levels, support the nervous system, boost energy, and decrease blood pressure. Magnesium also aids in neurotransmitter functions in the brain, especially when involving sleep and stabilizing mood.
  1. B12
  • Helps with maintaining brain and nerve function by facilitating the production of myelin, allowing one’s nerve function to be regulated and preventing damage to nerve fibers. It also acts as a coenzyme in metabolic function, helping the body absorb energy from foods. Overall, B12 combats fatigue by regulating and increasing energy levels in the body.
  1. Taurine
  • Can improve muscle function and reduce oxidative stress by increasing antioxidants in the body. Taurine can also burn fat during exercise, helping to enhance performance – allowing you to feel and look good!
  1. Ascorbic Acid:
  • Promotes collagen synthesis by consisting of Vitamin C. It can decrease joint pain and maintain strong and healthy bones. Ascorbic Acid also can support the function of immune cells and is known to be a potent antioxidant. So, if there is pain that is holding you back from engaging in intercourse, there is a solution!
  1. B-Complex:
  • With a mixture of B vitamins, one’s energy can be increased due to the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats from food consumption. Immunity is also boosted since B-complex aids in the production of white blood cells to fight infections and regulate inflammation to protect cells against potential damage.
  1. Arginine:
  • Helps with cardiovascular health, including combatting conditions such as erectile dysfunction in men, and can help improve sexual intercourse. Arginine is also helpful for detoxifying heavy metals and ammonia.
  1. Calcium Chloride:
  • Increases calcium levels in the body, treating conditions involving low calcium, and also protects the heart from high potassium levels. Additionally, it regulates or reduces heart and lungs that may have high magnesium levels.
  1. Carnitine:
  • Maintains heart health by improving cardiac metabolism and overall function. It can increase the energy supply within the heart and help diseases such as chronic circulatory failure. Brain function is also supported by Caritine, as it can impact the brain’s function relative to sexual activity. This can result in increased libido and enhanced sexual performance.

By promoting your physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being, you can fully embrace your sexuality. The Vitality drip therapy is overall designed to increase blood flow and heart health, stimulate hormone secretion, and support arousal that will lead to increased libido in both men and women. The DRIPBaR in Royal Palm Beach is offering this drip in hopes of making this Valentine’s Day extra special by enhancing sexual health for lovers, with hopes to help rekindle your spark in relationships. To learn more about the DRIPBaR Royal Palm Beach, please visit https://thedripbar.com/royal-palm-beach-fl/

American Humane Society Recognizes February as Spay and Neuter Awareness Month

The Palm Beach-based organization is raising awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering pets to promote animal welfare

PALM BEACH, FL – The American Humane Society is pleased to recognize February as Spay and Neuter Awareness Month, an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the critical role spaying and neutering play in controlling pet overpopulation, improving animal welfare, and ensuring the health and well-being of pets across the country.

“By choosing to spay or neuter your pet, you’re making a powerful commitment to your pets’ health and happiness—these procedures reduce the risk of certain cancers and improve their overall well-being,” said Dr. Robin Ganzert, president and CEO of American Humane Society. “This month, we encourage handlers to join us in creating a brighter future for their beloved animals while easing the burden on shelters overwhelmed by the growing number of stray animals.”

Spay and Neuter Facts:

·       Prevents Overpopulation: More than 3 million pets are euthanized in U.S. shelters every year, many due to overpopulation. Spaying and neutering can significantly reduce these numbers.

·       Health Benefits: Spaying female pets before their first heat cycle can reduce the risk of uterine infections and breast cancer, while neutering male pets can reduce the risk of testicular cancer and prostate issues.

·       Improved Behavior: Neutering can help decrease aggression and territorial behaviors, while spaying eliminates the risk of heat-related behaviors.

How You Can Get Involved:

·       Schedule a spay or neuter appointment for your pet with a local veterinarian.

·       Participate in community programs offering low-cost spay/neuter services.

·       Support organizations that provide resources and funding for spay/neuter initiatives.

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League

Hosted First Spay Day of 2025

Nearly 600 Community Cats Received Free Surgeries!

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (January 21, 2025) On January 11, 2025, the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League hosted its first free Spay Day of the year for community cats. This one-day TNVR (Trap Neuter Vaccinate Return) event significantly impacted the lives of outdoor cats and helped prevent pet overpopulation, resulting in a total of 589 cats being sterilized. The TNVR program involves humanely trapping free-roaming cats, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them against rabies and other feline viruses, ear-tipping them for identification, and then returning them to their outdoor homes.

The TNVR Spay Day was a massive community event that brought together over 250 people to ensure its success. It was a collaborative effort, involving 14 veterinarians and 10 veterinary students working alongside 52 veterinary nurses and support staff to perform lifesaving surgeries. Additionally, 102 volunteers assisted at various stations throughout the event, including check-in, surgery preparation, instrument sterilization, cat and trap organization, recovery, and more, all while working alongside the staff from Peggy Adams.

The teamwork doesn’t end there – countless trappers from all over Palm Beach County worked hard to humanely trap as many cats as possible over two days. This diverse group included over 100 first-time and veteran trappers who dropped off their community cats for surgeries and then returned the cats safely back to where they were found.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in this important TNVR Spay Day,” said Sue Berry, CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “Completing 589 spay/neuter surgeries on community cats is an incredible achievement that will have a lasting impact on the lives of many free-roaming cats in Palm Beach County. This effort will help control population growth and reduce the number of homeless kittens entering our shelters.” Berry also extended a special thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Fix the Future Program for assisting Peggy Adams in recruiting additional veterinarians for Spay Day.

TNVR has been shown to be the least costly, most effective, and humane way of stabilizing and decreasing community cat populations. This program is particularly important right now because Kitten Season is approaching here in South Florida. This unique time occurs from early spring through late fall when cats give birth to countless kittens. Kitten Season creates a strain on shelters, including Peggy Adams, due to the hundreds of newborn and young kittens coming into their programs.

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League offers free TNVR services for community cats Monday-Friday, year-round. Learn more about TNVR services and Spay Days at peggyadams.org/tnvr
