Not only was Easter Sunday a great day for the kids going after candy filled eggs with the Easter Bunny, but for adults as well, especially if you were part of or rooting for team Pilot.

In addition to winning the US Open Polo Championship, they also took home the Gauntlet of Polo trophy for winning the last three tournaments of the season.

By winning all three they were entitled to a $500,000 bonus giving them a grand total of $1 million for their victories.  $125,000 for winning the CV Whitney Cup, $125,000 for winning the USPA Gold Cup, $250,000 for winning the US Open and finally a $500,000 bonus for winning all three while going undefeated in all of the events.

Pilot defeated Las Monjitas 12-7 in a game that saw them jump out to a 4-0 lead and never look back.

This win gave team Pilot their first US Open title.

The team was comprised of 10 goaler Facundo Pieres, his brother, 9 goaler Gonzalito Pieres, Matias Gonzalez and team Patron, Curtis Pilot.

Matias Gonzalez of Pilot was the game’s MVP, while Francisco Elizalde of Las Monjitas was awarded MVP for the entire Gauntlet series.

Horse of the year was Facundo Pierer’ “Open Canosa”.
