Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure announces the 2013 Florida Brain Cancer 5K

The 2013 Florida Brain Cancer 5K, now in its fourth year, will take place on April 7, 2013 at John Prince Park in Lake Worth, FL. The event will bring together friends, families, local businesses and supporters all working together to raise money to support the most cutting-edge brain cancer research and to find a cure for this devastating disease. Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon will serve as the Honorary Race Chair for the 2013 Florida Brain Cancer 5K. Ms. Gannon has a rich, distinguished and diverse record of public service. After the death of her husband to a brain tumor in 2005, Ms. Gannon shepherded a bill through the Florida Legislature that provided $500,000 for the creation of the Florida Center for Brain Tumor Research to develop brain tumor treatments and cures at the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute of the University of Florida. As Ms. Gannon is an avid runner, she will be running the 5K and also serving as the Team Captain for her fundraising team, “Team Tax PBC”.
The Florida Brain Cancer 5K is open to participants of all fitness levels, and runners will have the option to be timed. In addition, participants are encouraged to create corporate and/or family/friend fundraising teams. Awards will be given to the top runners, as well as to the top three fundraising individuals and teams.
Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure also co-hosts the Race for Hope in Washington, D.C., which will mark its 16th year on May 5, 2013. More information on the D.C. race is available at www.curebraintumors.org.
