Tennis Star to Headline Wellington Tennis Center Grand Opening
The Village of Wellington is proud to announce that tennis great Venus Williams will headline the grand opening of the Wellington tennis center facility on Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m. Wellington Council members will join Miss Williams for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The 4,506 square foot facility, located on Lyons Road, features 21 self-irrigated Har-Tru® clay courts, a canvas covered roof-top balcony, and a pro-shop. Interior design for the facility’s pro shop came from Venus Williams’ design company, VStarr Interiors.
Architectural firm Song + Associates, Inc., known locally for its work on the West Palm Beach City Hall and Public Library, worked alongside Pirtle Construction on this “design-build” project.
Current Wellington Tennis Center Director Tommy Cheatham will continue to manage operations at the new facility.
“The anticipation for our new tennis center has been building since we broke ground back in October of 2014. We are excited to offer a destination of this caliber to the community, highlighted by state-of-the-art tennis courts, facilities, and programming,” said Cheatham.
All members of the community are invited to come out and tour the new facility.
