Wellington Hurricane Matthew Update
The National Hurricane Center has issued a WARNING for Hurricane Matthew as it moves across the Bahamas as a major hurricane late Wednesday and Thursday. The Village’s Emergency Operations Personnel have been activated.
In anticipation of Hurricane Matthew, Wellington’s Public Works crews have placed Wellington canals in their low operating range to move water as quickly as possible. We are taking precautions to secure Wellington’s Parks and Recreation facilities. We are working with contractors to secure all construction projects around the Village.
NORMAL OPERATIONS:
Wellington’s Municipal Complex continues to function under normal operations through Wednesday evening. The decision to possibly close Thursday will be announced Wednesday afternoon.
CALL CENTER:
Wellington’s call center is active and will remain open through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 05, 2016. It will reopen Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 6:00 a.m. and operate continuously until further notice.

TRASH PICK-UP:
Trash pickup will be on a regular schedule Wednesday. Trash pick-up is suspended for Thursday and Friday. Trash pickup may resume Saturday. We provide further information when available.
STOP PUTTING ANY EXTRA DEBRIS, TRASH OR YARD WASTE OUT AT THIS TIME.
DO NOT TRIM YOUR TREES.
DO NOT PUT OUT ANYTHING FOR PICK UP UNLESS YOU HAVE CONFIRMED IT WILL BE PICKED UP.
ITEMS PLACED ON THE STREETS AND LEFT UNCOLLECTED CREATE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISKS.

All evacuation and shelter information comes from Palm Beach County. Wellington does not operate shelters or issue evacuation orders.

Wellington’s closest shelter is located at the Palm Beach Central High School (8499 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington 33411) and is opening at 4:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
