The Arc Breaks Ground on New Group Home

Palm Springs, Fla. – Clients at The Arc of Palm Beach County are looking forward to moving day. The Arc recently broke ground on a new group home in Palm Springs, Florida, for adults with disabilities.

Through the generosity of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and Sandy Hill Foundation, the 3,750-square-foot house will give residents the opportunity to live with friends and be part of a community. Round-the-clock, professional caregivers allow the clients to explore their independence. The property can accommodate advanced medical care should a resident require it, which means, once someone is placed at the Poney Martin Residence, they are home for life.

The six-bedroom house is expected to be completed this summer. The building will be hurricane ready, allowing it to serve as a shelter for the permanent residents, along with clients from The Arc’s other group homes. The Poney Martin Residence is the first piece of The Arc’s plan to rebuild or remodel all of its current client housing. The Arc currently operates four group homes in residential communities throughout Palm Beach County.
