On Father’s Day, Wear the Bear. Show You Care.

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (June 15, 2020) – The last few trying months have reinforced many things so important to us in our daily lives. One would be the importance of family, and the other would be the extended family of health care workers who put their own health at risk every day fighting for lives impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. This Father’s Day should take on greater significance and hopefully remind us again of what is paramount in our lives.

The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, and their headwear partners at AHEAD USA, have come up with a unique Father’s Day gift that is the true definition of the gift that keeps on giving. A limited-edition hat, highlighted by the iconic Golden Bear wearing a face mask, and the words “Wear the Bear. Show You Care.” is part of an initiative to fund the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other needs for front-line health care workers.

And it just may be a perfect gift for Father’s Day.

Now through Father’s Day, for every $100 you donate, the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation will proudly match your donation, and as a thank you for your generosity, send you the limited-edition hat. All proceeds will help provide masks and PPE for front-line health care workers, because like all hospitals, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami has experienced an increased need for PPE as a result of COVID-19. The “Wear the Bear. Show You Care.” hats are part of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation’s support of the hospital’s COVID-19 Relief Fund.

“The greatest gift any parent can receive is a healthy child,” said Barbara Nicklaus, founder and chair of the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. “During this pandemic, children with life-threatening conditions continue to need medical attention. We have to protect them and the people who care for them.”

The weekly cost to provide PPE for the staff at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is $20,000. This expense is expected to increase as the hospital reopens elective procedures and outpatient centers. The “Wear the Bear. Show You Care.” hat is designed to inspire hope and healing, as Nicklaus Children’s Hospital continues its critical work while safeguarding its patients and health care workers.

Donations can be made on the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation website at nchcf.org/wearthebear/. Keep the “Wear the Bear. Show You Care.” hat for yourself, or give it to someone special as a Father’s Day gift, with your message of hope and healing.

Jack and Barbara Nicklaus founded the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation in 2004 to provide world-class, pediatric care to children in Palm Beach County and beyond; raising more than $125 million to date. The Foundation supports Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, which has helped children from every state in the union and 119 countries.
