HOSTS “KIDS IN THE KITCHEN”
AT THE SOUTH FLORIDA SCIENCE CENTER AND AQUARIUM

A Free, Fun-Filled Day of Nutrition, Fitness, and Health Activities for Children Ages 4-12
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — On Saturday, April 26, 2014, children ages 4-12 and their parents are invited to participate in the Junior League of the Palm Beaches annual Kids in the Kitchen, a free, family-friendly event held in conjunction with the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Kids in the Kitchen presents interactive nutrition, fitness and health-focused activities as well as information booths designed to teach children how to live a healthy lifestyle. This free event is open to the public and more than 250 children and their families are expected to attend.
Children attending this event will:
- learn simple recipes for healthy snacks and be encouraged to try new healthy foods
- get active at a variety of fitness booths led by local fitness and health coaches
- participate in a short class sponsored by the SouthFloridaScienceCenter and Aquarium focused on the digestive system and healthy eating
CampGladiator, Ultima Fitness, Joe Knows Gym, and Haute Yoga will participate as fitness vendors, teaching simple daily fitness activities. Cynthia C. DiMarco, RD, LD/N will provide health tips and Dr. Mimy’s Children’s Dentistry will discuss how to keep teeth healthy. Nu Skin, Pediatric Associates, and Palm Beach Pediatrics will also be represented at the event.
The Kids in the Kitchen event includes favors for every child who attends. In addition, each child will receive a passport booklet upon arrival and can obtain stamps as they complete the various event activities.
The event sponsors include: The Breakers Palm Beach, Lowe’s, The Bushel Stop, Dr. and Mrs. Bradley Lauer, Ritter & Ramsey General and Cosmetic Dentistry, Staples, Kashi, Lunsford Orthodontics, Petals with a Purpose, BethesdaHospital, Morton’s Steakhouse, Cooper Orthodontics, and After Hours Pediatrics.
To register for this free event, parents must e-mail their name and their child’s name and age to [email protected] or go to www.jlpb.org/our-events/kitk/ to register online. Registration will be open through Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Please sign up in advance, tickets will not be available at the door. For every child who attends Kids in the Kitchen, one complimentary adult ticket to the SouthFloridaScienceCenter and Aquarium will be provided. Additional adult attendees can purchase tickets to the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium at a $3.00 discount.
The SouthFloridaScienceCenter and Aquarium is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North in West Palm Beach.
