The following programs are being offered at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge during the months of December 2012. Please come and join us!

Guided Cypress Swamp Tour
Every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
A refuge volunteer naturalist will be leading a tour of the Cypress Swamp Boardwalk. Meet in the visitor center near the back door to find out about this fascinating habitat.

Roving Naturalists on the Cypress Swamp Boardwalk

A refuge volunteer naturalist will be walking the Cypress Swamp Boardwalk with a plant guide ready to answer any question visitors might have

Marsh Trail Bird Walks
Every Wednesday and Friday
7:30 AM – 10:00 AM, 7:45 AM – 9:45 AM, respectively
Join a naturalist for an early morning bird walk around the Marsh Trail. Meet at the Marsh Trail parking lot.

Guided Canoe Trips
Saturday, December1, 2012 and December 15, 2012, December 29, 2012
8:00 AM – 10:15 AM
Enjoy a beautiful canoe tour through a portion of the refuge interior. Tour leaves from the Headquarters Boat Ramp. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED by calling 734-8303.

Guided Bird, Butterfly, and Wildflower Walk on the Marsh Trail
Every Sunday
7:45 AM – 9:45 AM
Join a naturalist for an early morning bird, butterfly, and wildflower walk around the Marsh Trail. Meet at the Marsh Trail parking lot.

Scoping the Marsh
C6 Pavilion
Every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Join a naturalist at their early morning perching position on the C6 Pavilion as they point out the array of wildlife using this impoundment bordered by Lee Road on the North and the Marsh Trail on the south. If you don’t feel like walking this is a great way to enjoy being outdoors.

Refuge Visitor Center Closed
Christmas Day
Tuesday, December 25, 2012
The Refuge grounds will remain open all day. Come out and enjoy a walk after you eat with your family and friends.

The refuge is located off U.S. 441/SR 7, two miles south of SR 804 (Boynton Beach
Blvd.) and three miles north of SR 806 (Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue). The refuge is
currently open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week. Refuge hours change
seasonally and are posted at each entrance. The Visitor Center hours are 9:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m., seven days a week. An entrance fee of $5.00 per vehicle or $1.00 per
pedestrian is charged. A variety of annual passes, including a $12.00 refuge specific
annual pass, are available. Please visit the refuge website at
