WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, August 1, 2023 –The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County received 150 backpacks filled with school supplies from AT&T in its ongoing support of The Salvation Army’s after-school youth programs at the Northwest Community Center.

On Wednesday, August 2nd at 2:00 PM, AT&T employees handed out backpacks to students at the Northwest Community Center at 600 N. Rosemary Avenue in West Palm Beach. The backpack donation is a part of AT&T Believes, the company’s employee volunteerism program focused on connecting people to greater possibilities.

“We are incredibly grateful for AT&T’s commitment and generosity,” said Major James Hall, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County.  “These backpacks filled with supplies will help set up the youth in our programs for success in the upcoming school year.”

Earlier this year, AT&T opened a Connected Learning Center at the Northwest Community Center to help bridge the digital divide in Palm Beach County by providing free access to the internet and computers, as well as educational resources that teach the skills needed to use them safely and responsibly.

“Connectivity is a bridge to possibility,” said Joe York, AT&T Gulf States president. “But not everyone has access to the opportunities that connectivity brings. That’s why we are collaborating with organizations like The Salvation Army to house our centers, which provide the technology and education resources needed to fully participate in today’s digital world.”
