Community Caring Center of Palm Beach County

Seeks Volunteers and Donations for Annual

CRANKSGIVING Bike Ride & Food Drive

Saturday, November 2

(Boynton Beach, FL – September 25, 2019) Sherry Johnson, executive director of the Community Caring Center of Palm Beach County (CCCPBC), today invited charitable bike riders—from singles to full families—to participate in the nonprofit organization’s annual CRANKSGIVING Bike Ride & Food Drive on Saturday, November 2.

Participating riders will gather at 8 am at Dewey Park, 100 N.E. 4th Street in Boynton Beach. The 8.2 mile roundtrip ride starts at 9 am and includes stops at three different grocery stores (one Walmart, two Publix), where the riders are encouraged to purchase nonperishable food items that the CCCPBC will use to fill 250 Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. A van will follow riders to pick up the purchased items at each store (so bikers won’t have to tote them during the remainder of the roundtrip ride).

“This is a fun event for the whole family, not a bike racing competition with winners and losers,” says event chair and the bike ride’s official “spokes”-person Arturo Wittman. “The real winners are those in need who will get a food-filled Thanksgiving basket to help feed themselves and their loved ones on this very special holiday.”

The cost to participate in this CRANKSGIVING Bike Ride & Food Drive is $15 per person until October 15, $20 after that date, and FREE for those 13-year-old and younger, plus a commitment to spend a minimum of $20 during the bike ride’s three stop-and-shops. Free event t-shirt with every adult registration, and free parking for participants in the municipal lot on N.E. 4th Street.

To sign-up online, please go to [email protected]. For more information about this year’s CRANKSGIVING, please visit https://www.cccpbc.org/cranksgiving, or contact Arturo Wittman directly at 561.480.0093.

BTW—nonriders can also participate by dropping off food items on November 2 to the Community Caring Center drop boxes at the three participating stores (Walmart at 3625 S. Federal Highway in Boynton Beach, and two Publix stores in Delray Beach at 1538 S. Federal Highway and 555 N.E. 5th Avenue).

Among the needed items from the CRANKSGIVING Shopping List are cans of green beans, cranberry sauce, yams, and pumpkin pie mix; boxes of stuffing mix and mashed potatoes; bags of rice (16 oz) and onions (3 lbs); packets of gravy mix and stalks of celery; plus turkey vouchers and gift cards ($10 or more).
