Sun, Fun, and Folk Music at the Wellington Amphitheatre’s

“Songwriter’s Showcase”

The Village of Wellington, in conjunction with WEI Network and “Peter’s Living Room”, presented an afternoon of talented, acclaimed, and Grammy Nominated folk musicians Sunday, February 6, 2011.  Wellington Dental and Royal Palm Hotel were sponsors of the show.  This event took place at the new Wellington Amphitheatre located along Forest Hill Boulevard, just south of Wellington Trace. The best part of the Showcase was that it was FREE.  This will be an ongoing series planned for the first Sunday of each month.  There is free and ample parking, clean restrooms, and adjacent playground for children.  Throw down a blanket on the grass, bring a cooler with food and drinks, or enjoy our vendors’ specialties (the only place you will need to spend a little cash.)

Acoustic guitars were prevalent throughout the show, as were excellent songs, and superb singing.  Performers arrived from all over South Florida and included: Andrew Bayuk and the Undeniables – Andrew is a performer, songwriter, and recording artist who has also performed on TV and radio; Ellen Bukstel who was a Grammy Nominee; Joe Virga who is a long time professional singer and songwriter from Ft. Myers; Leigh Humes who is an acclaimed performer, recording artist, and songwriter from Tampa; Nick Annis who was also a Grammy Nominee; Rod McDonald who is one of Europe’s most popular American Folk Artists, a very highly regarded performer and songwriter in South Florida; Marie Nofsinger who is an acclaimed Nashville songwriter and one of South Florida’s finest performers and recording artists; Jordan Cherkinsky who was Host and Accompanist.

WEI Network is also presenting “Laugh Out Loud” comedy shows at the Wellington Amphitheater featuring talented and acclaimed comedians.  This is a family event so bring the kids, a blanket, and a cooler with munchies and drinks and be ready to laugh.  Shows are FREE from 7.30 PM to 9.30 PM and scheduled for Friday, February 11th; Friday, March 11th; Friday, April 8th; Friday, May 13th.
