The Songs of Phil Ochs, a concert produced by the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery, the Lake Worth DCA, LULA and the Lake Worth Playhouse will feature a cast of local performers, Sonny Ochs, the sister of Phil Ochs and local celebrity, Leslie Gray Streeter.  Two concerts will be held on Sunday, February 19 at the Lake Worth Playhouse.  The first, a matinee, will take place at 2:00 PM.  The evening concert will take place at 7:00 PM.  In-between concerts a reception for ticket holders will be held at the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery, 605 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth.

Sonny Ochs, sister of Phil, and Leslie Streeter will narrate the concert sharing memories of Phil, his life and the creation of the songs he wrote.  Sonny was a school teacher in Far Rockaway New York. She has been a music producer and radio show host for decades.  Sonny is a member of the People’s Music Network, an organization started by Pete Seeger.  From these ranks Sonny has organized artists from around the country to join with her in producing Phil Ochs Song Nights.  Over the last forty years these song fests have kept the songs and memory of Phil and his genius alive.

Leslie Gray Streeter is a columnist and writer for the Palm Beach Post, where she has written about entertainment and pop culture for nearly a decade. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, she is an avid supporter of the local music and the arts scene and is thrilled to be involved.

During the concert, photos of Phil Ochs will be flashed on the screen behind the performers.  The words to all of his songs will be flashed on the screen as well so that the audience can sing along.

Tax deductible donations are being accepted by the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery for tickets for local High School Students.  The songs of Phil Ochs can again speak to a new generation of young people searching for their answers to the meaning of life and the world around them.

Interviews with Sonny Ochs can be seen on the documentary, Phil Ochs-There But For Fortune which will be shown at the Stonzek Theater adjacent to the Lake Worth Playhouse on Wednesday, February 22 and Thursday, February 23, 8:00 PM.  Sonny will attend for a question and answer session.
