Celebrate the Year of the Snake at Palm Beach Zoo

February 19, 2013, WEST PALM BEACH, Florida – Palm Beach Zoo is celebrating the Year of the Snake during its annual Chinese New Year celebration, DragonFest. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn more about reptiles like the Burmese python, Cuban boa, and green anaconda.
DragonFest will take place Saturday, February 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Authentic dragon and lion dances, martial arts performances, keeper talks about snakes, and conservation-themed games and crafts will round out this wildly fun day of cultural celebration.
Here’s the schedule of activities:

· 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Cultural and snake-themed games and crafts stationed throughout the Zoo
· 11 a.m. Authentic Dragon Dance at Fountain Plaza
· 11:20 a.m. Authentic Lion Dance at Fountain Plaza
· 11:45 a.m. Martial Arts Performances at Fountain Plaza
· 12:15 – 1 p.m. How long is Mahatma the Burmese python contest at her exhibit. Watch keepers measure her at the top of the hour. Special prize awarded to the winner.
· 1 p.m. Wild Things Show featuring Dax the Cuban boa at Wildlife Theatre
