4:30 ~ 6pm               Welcoming Reception (Waterfront Main Dock, WPB)

The public is invited to participate in both activities. Please call 561~233~9004 if you are interested in displaying a “green” sign or banner on your canoe/kayak or receiving complimentary tickets to the Welcoming Reception.

FLOTILLA: The expedition will start at the Southern Bridge (Southern Boulevard and S. Flagler Drive) in West Palm Beach and end at the Main Dock at the Waterfront of the City of West Palm Beach. The route is approximately 2 1/2 miles in the Intercoastal Waterway (also known as the Lake Worth Lagoon), circling around the Audubon Island, a habitat that attracts local wildlife-most notably birds, and viewing South Cove Natural Area, a major Lake Worth Lagoon restoration project recently completed. If you are participating in the flotilla please arrange to have your canoe dropped at the site at 2:30pm. The launch will begin promptly at 3pm and is scheduled to be at the Main Dock at 4:30pm. Arrange for pick up following the welcoming event at either Currie Park or Southern Bridge. Reservations for the Flotilla and Reception will be required before FEBRUARY 1, 2013. Please click for Registration Form for Green School Participants. Please click here for Local Participants.

RECEPTION: As the flotilla approaches the Main Dock participants will hear the sweet voices of the Pine Jog Singers, students from Pine Jog Elementary School in West Palm Beach (our first LEED School in Florida). Dignitaries and Community Leaders will be at the dock to greet the flotilla participants.

Following the reception we hope everyone will enjoy the Waterfront Interpretive Installation, the creative vision expressing the story of the Lake Worth Lagoon, what it encompasses today and what it has encompassed in the past. A trolley service is available to take you around our beautiful downtown where you will find a fabulous array of restaurants in easy walking distance. A Thursday Evening highlight is Clematis by Night (Clematis Street) which offers free musical entertainment and other festivities.
