WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – As a special treat during the month of love, the West Palm Beach GreenMarket Strawberry Festival promises a sweet surprise for lovers of the heart-shaped, in-season berry. The 17th annual Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include freshly made strawberry shortcakes by Chef Carlino of Cider Doughnuts. All proceeds from the featured shortcakes, a $5 donation, will benefit Hospice of Palm Beach County.

“The Strawberry Festival brings together thousands of visitors and local residents to enjoy strawberry goodies while giving back to the community,” said Mary Pinak, Community Events Manager for the City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation. “Thanks to everyone’s contributions, last year we raised more than $1,500 for Hospice of Palm Beach County.”

Guests will have the opportunity to get “Freshly Dressed,” too, by stopping by the “Strawberry Selfie Station,” where guests can take photos making it look like they are wearing strawberries. The inspiration for the popup photo props came from the Instagram of a mother in Turkey, who made the idea popular over the summer. The idea also helped to set the stage for the GreenMarket’s 2017 – 2018 marketing campaign, “Freshly Dressed.”

Guests are also encouraged to shop from more than 90 local vendors selling a variety of products, including fresh produce, exotic plants and flowers, herbs and spices, baked goods, gourmet and specialty foods, coffee and teas, and much more. In addition, the GreenMarket also features live music, unlimited mimosas for $10, free activities for kids, plus plentiful green space and seating for a morning of fun and relaxation.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket is produced by the City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation, Community Events, and will run weekly through Saturday, April 21, 2018, except for Saturday, March 24, 2018, due to the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The GreenMarket is friendly to dogs on short leashes and always free. Parking is free in two of the City’s closest garages, on the corners of Banyan/Olive and Evernia/Olive, during market hours. Those interested in arriving by boat can also take advantage of the City’s free public docks.

The mission of the West Palm Beach GreenMarket is to provide the community with seasonal access to locally grown fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, plants and agricultural products. The market supports the southeast Florida agricultural community and stimulates agricultural development, particularly in Palm Beach County, by providing an outlet for locally grown crops and specialty products.

GreenMarket sponsors to date include: Schumacher Automotive, The Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Daily News, 97.9 WRMF, SUNNY 107.9, 103.1 WIRK, X 102.3, Beatz 96.3, News Talk 850 WFTL, 640 Hurricane Sports Radio, Vital Health Chiropractic and Palm Beach Medical.
