Pickets Available for Original Tiger Shark Cove Playground Sponsors

As Wellington prepares to upgrade the playground at Tiger Shark Cove Park, residents who sponsored the original playground more than a decade ago by purchasing a picket are encouraged to stop by for one last visit to pick up their pickets. Residents can claim their pickets on Tuesday, February 28th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm as well as Saturday, March 3rd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Tiger Shark Cove Park located at 13800 Greenbriar Boulevard. Forms to purchase new pickets will be on hand at a cost of $20 per picket, which includes personalization. After March 3rd, pickets can be retrieved at Village Park located at 11700 Pierson Road.

The playground at Tiger Shark Cove Park officially closes to the public on Monday, February 20th as Wellington prepares for a community rebuild to upgrade the play area. Wellington is calling on residents to volunteer to help rebuild the playground from Wednesday, March 21st through Saturday, March 24th. This community rebuild project falls during the Palm Beach County School District’s spring break, and high school students are encouraged to volunteer to earn community service hours. Individual volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Children ages 10 to 14 can volunteer with a parent or guardian. Child care will be provided for children ages 5 to 10. The playground is slated to reopen on April 14th, 2012.

Approximately 75 volunteers are needed each day to make this community build project a success. The volunteer application is available electronically in the Events section at www.wellingtonfl.gov. Minors who wish to volunteer must obtain parental consent. For additional information, contact Kim Henghold, Community Projects Manager, at (561) 791-4137 or via email at [email protected].
