PANTHER RUN ELEMENTARY RECEIVES A PLAYGROUND SUNSHADE
The students at Panther Run Elementary School will now be able to enjoy a newly shaded, and sun-safe playground, thanks to the work of the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), local businesses and the many parents who donated both time and money to fund the sunshade project.
PTA Vice President of Business Partnerships, Amy Roberts, and Principal Pamela Strachan led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the school located in Lake Worth, FL. Some of the school’s administration, along with members of the school’s PTA and their children, joined together to dedicate the sunshade to the school on Monday, January 7, 2013.
“It’s amazing to see the project completed,” said Amy Roberts. “It’s a great feeling to know that our community came together to fund this sunshade to protect our children from the sun and heat, and enhance their outdoor playtime so they remain active. The many hours we donated to raise money and fund the project are all worth it.”
The school’s PTA has held fundraisers over the past three years, supported by local businesses and community members, to raise 100% of the money to fund the construction of the sunshade.
“Our PTA and parents have worked hard fundraising over the past few years,” said Melodie Brockway, PTA President. “It’s great to have a permanent contribution like this to show what we can accomplish.”
“The sunshade is such a great addition to our school grounds,” said Principal Strachan. “I can say that we are truly blessed by the families at Panther Run and the dedication of our parents and our community to improve our school.”
