July, 2013 – New Extended Hours Sundays at the South FL Science Center and Aquarium

Thanks to popular demand, the new South Florida Science Center and Aquarium has announced extended Sunday hours. Effective immediately, doors will open at 10 a.m. on Sundays, instead of noon.

Formerly the South Florida Science Museum, the new South Florida Science Center and Aquarium has seen tremendous response to its recent 13,000-square-foot transformation.  The new construction expands the former museum’s footprint by 75 percent to showcase a new mission and new exhibit halls  –  including a 3,000-square-foot aquarium, four new Everglades exhibits, NOAA’s Science on a Sphere, a 6,000-square-foot traveling exhibit hall, an impressive new landscaped entry plaza, a new front entry complex, and upgraded visitor amenities.

The mission of the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is to open every mind to science through the strategic programming of interactive exhibits, engaging community-based camps and events. Founded in 1959 and formally known as the South Florida Science Museum, the new SFSCA also features more than 50 hands-on educational exhibits, mini golf and a digital planetarium.

Admission to the South Florida Science Center is $13.50 for adults; seniors 62+ $12.00; and children ages three-12 $10.00, under three years and Museum members are FREE.  The Science Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. On the last Friday of every month, the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium hosts a themed ‘Science Nights’ (formerly known as ‘Nights at the Museum’)– a family friendly opportunity to enjoy extended hours of the Science Center’s typical offerings as well as a chance to view the night sky through the Science Center’s observatory.  Other special events are offered throughout the year.

The South Florida Science Center is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North, West Palm Beach.
