FLY ON A MAGIC CARPET AND SEE THE WORLD WITH ALADDIN JR. AT THE MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE!
July 2, 2013 (Jupiter) – This summer, join a fantasy magic carpet ride with Aladdin, Jr. and students who are learning from Broadway’s best at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s summer camp programs!
A full performance of the family-friendly musical will take place on Friday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Jupiter Community High School. Fun for all ages, tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for children.
The show will star students from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts’ three-week Junior Conservatory summer camp (grades 3-5), in which students learn all aspects of theatre such as acting, dance and voice, culminating in full performances of a musical.
One of the most beloved musical shows of our time, Disney’s Aladdin and the all-powerful genie come to life on stage in this high-flying musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides. Featuring the popular hit songs “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me,” Aladdin Jr. is a one-act, high energy theatre musical adapted from the popular animated Disney film, creating a version that’s perfect for the entire family.
“Aladdin, Jr. is a triumphant, joyful musical for all ages about celebrating our differences,” said Julie Rowe, the Theatre’s director of education. “It’s fast-paced, the characters are larger than life and it features infectiously fun production numbers, including the thrill of flying through the night sky on a magic carpet.”
Rowe is directing the production, with choreography by Broadway veteran and Conservatory instructor Brian Andrews and music direction by North Palm Beach composer, lyricist and writer John Mercurio.
During camp, Rowe will guide students through the process of auditioning for a Broadway show, a fast-paced rehearsal schedule and the opportunity to showcase all that they’ve learned onstage, complete with costumes, sets, professional lighting and a professional theater orchestra.
“The Junior Conservatory is a wonderful opportunity for local children to have the chance to experience what it’s like to work in professional theatre and perform in a full musical,” Rowe said. “There’s still time to sign up for camp, and we’d like to encourage parents to have their children join us this summer at the Conservatory.”
Other exciting camp options for grades K-12 include the upcoming one-week Dr. Seuss camp (grades K-5), one-week Super Sea Creatures camp (grades 3-5) and a two-week Dance Intensive camp (grades 6-12).
Students will perform Aladdin, Jr. on Friday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. onstage at Jupiter Community High School’s auditorium, located at 500 Military Trail, Jupiter. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for children.
