The Plaza Theatre Heats Up With Announcement of
Sizzling Summer Cabaret Series
MANALAPAN, FL. – (June 17, 2012) If you are looking for a sizzling summer show, The Plaza Theatre in Manalapan, Fl. is the place for you! From July 7 through August 5, theatregoers will be captivated by the sultry sounds of South Florida’s hottest cabaret singers in the Theatre’s new cabaret series.
July 7/8 – Broadway At The Plaza
A greatest hits show featuring music from all-time favorites like Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Funny Girl, The Sound of Music, Les Miserables, and many more. Featuring: Melissa Jacobson, John Lariviere, Missy McArdle, and Jon Zimmerman.
July 14/15 – The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Friends
Music from hits such as Phantom of the Opera, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Song & Dance, and more. Performed by Jody Langel, who played Eponine on Broadway in Les Miserables, and starred in several Andrew Lloyd Webber shows, most recently Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
July 21/22 – The Sinatra Songbook
Sit back and enjoy the music popularized by one the world’s most beloved performers. Songs like That ‘Ol Black Magic, New York New York, My Way, Come Fly With Me, and One For My Baby were among the many songs that have endured well beyond ‘Ol Blue Eyes time on earth. John Lariviere, the goldenvoiced performer of cabaret shows over the last two decades, and the Plaza Theatre’s own Music Music Music!, returns with a glowing tribute to the wonderful music made popular by Francis Albert Sinatra.
July 28/29 – A Broadway Baby
Anna McNeely, Jennyanydots in the original Broadway cast of Cats, Miss Electra in Gypsy with Tyne Daly on Broadway (and in the movie), and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, will take you on a personal journey from being a singer of inspirational music in church to a Broadway Gypsy and on to a Broadway leading lady. Songs like Broadway Baby, Send In The Clowns, Memory, and Give My Regards To Broadway help illuminate Anna’s personal journey from young girl to Broadway star.
August 4/5 – The Sounds Of Rodgers & Hart
The great songwriting team of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, which preceded Rodgers association with Oscar Hammerstein, wrote standards that were sung by the greatest singers of all time, turned into hits, and still endure. Songs like My Funny Valentine, Isn’t It Romantic, The Lady Is A Tramp, ThisCan’t Be Love, and Where Or When. Performers to be announced at a later date, but sure to please. Prepare to be Bewitched!
All shows will be performed with a live piano accompaniment. Each show in the series will be performed Saturdays and Sundays on their respective dates. Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday performance is at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for each show is $25; $65 for three shows; and $100 for all five shows. Group discounts are available.
