(West Palm Beach, FL – September 6, 2022) The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC)today invited local residents and interested neighbors to attend three upcoming events.

Education in Palm Beach County

Guest Speaker:  Michael Burke, Superintendent of the A-rated School District of Palm Beach County, who is passionate about ensuring academic excellence and paving the way to post-graduate success by the 170,000+ students attending nearly 180 schools. Burke is deeply committed to the School Board’s mission to educate, affirm, and inspire each student in an equity-embedded school system.

Where:  Mel’s Way Bistro, 3535 Via Poinciana, Lake Worth 33467

Registration Fee: $35

+ Plated lunch begins at 11:30 am. Choice of Chicken Piccata or Vegetarian Plate.

+ Program begins at noon and will be livestreamed on Facebook.

+ Registrations, lunch choice, and payments must be made by 9/13/22 online at LWVPBC.org.

+ Walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Fee is nonrefundable.

Targeted to both new LWVPBC members and those thinking about joining, this Zoom event is for anyone interested in knowing more about the League’s work on such critical issues as health care, voter registration, national popular vote, voting rights, and fighting voter suppression.

Elections Issues

+ Guest Speaker:  Wendy Sartory Link, Supervisor of Elections for Palm Beach County, will discuss the upcoming elections. Appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis, she was elected by the voters in August 2020. She was formerly President of Wendy Sartory Link, PLLC, and the Managing Partner of Ackerman, Link & Sartory, P.A.

+ Guest Speaker:  Marcia Herman, LWVPBC’s First Vice President & Chief of the Speakers Bureau, will discuss this year’s ballot Propositions. A retired educator, she spent 25 years as a school librarian and technology teacher.

Lunch Fee: $20

Tour of Garden Fee: $12
