(West Palm Beach, FL – May 3, 2022) The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County (LWVPBC)today invited local taxpayers, property owners, and concerned citizens to two upcoming Hot Topic Discussions on Zoom:

Palm Beach County Tax Update
Two distinguished local elected officials will discuss how their departments operate and handle property taxes and fees:
+ Anne Gannon, Constitutional Tax Collector for Palm Beach County, who is currently serving her fourth term in this position. The first woman to hold this office, she has revamped an antiquated bureaucracy into a top-notch customer-focused service agency.
+ Dorothy Jacks, Property Appraiser for Palm Beach County, who was elected to this position in 2016 after a distinguished 28-year career in the office, where she is focused on producing a fair and equitable tax roll, broadening the efficiency of the office, embracing new and innovative technology, enhancing community outreach and increasing exceptional customer service for all local taxpayers.

The Importance of Public Defenders on the Supreme Court
Sharing the criminal defense perspective will be Carey Haughwout, Public Defender in Palm Beach County since 2001. A board-certified criminal trial lawyer, she established and chaired the Re-entry Task Force for the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission which established services for ex-offenders to reduce recidivism.
