Artists are Donating hundreds of Hand Made Bowls to Haitian Empty Bowl Fund-Raiser

Saturday, March 24 – 10 AM to 4 PM

On Saturday, March 24 from 10 AM- 4 PM, Twenty Plus Downtown Lake Worth Restaurants and Food Specialty shops will be offering samples of their food in support of the Haitian Empty Bowl Fund-Raiser. This food will go into the hundreds of hand made bowls being donated by local Palm Beach County artists.  Advance donations for the bowls are being taken at the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery at 605 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth.  Advance donations are $25 for one bowl and $80 for four bowls.  All bowls will be $35 on day of the event.  The gallery is open seven days a week.

Over 300 visitors participate in this event every year.  They start lining up at the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery at 10AM to select their hand-crafted bowls on a first come, first serve basis.  Then the fun begins.  You fill the bowls with samples of food from restaurants all over town.  This gives new meaning to “Eat your Hearts Out.”

This year many individual artists as well as groups of artists are making bowls for the event.  Gail Pasternack, Tracy Rosof-Petersen and Courtney Page are among artists who have already donated dozens of bowls to the event.  The Ceramics League of Palm Beach will have dozens more coming in.

Students from the class of Brian Kovachik, Jupiter Community High School, brought over sixty bowls into the gallery for the event. Other high schools are expected to do the same. This is a wonderful chance for high school students to contribute to children in dire need of support.  They came through this challenge like champions.

Tickets for this event are on sale at Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery at 605 Lake Avenue, downtown Lake Worth and at Studio 205 at 600 Lake.  Donations are $25 a bowl in advance, $80 for four bowls.  On the day of the event the donation request will be $35.  The bowls will be chosen on a first come- first serve basis on the day of the event.  Twenty restaurants will be providing samples of their foods to those purchasing bowls.
