Cocktail Culture at the Norton
Cocktail Culture Curator Michelle Finamore will give a presentation on the history of the cocktail hour and its profound impact on fashion and design at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Norton Museum of Art. The presentation is free with regular Museum admission. Highlighting some of the spectacular works of fashion and design in the exhibition, Finamore will illustrate how “cocktail culture” influenced the creations of designers such as Jeanne Lanvin, Christian Dior, Cartier, Yves Saint Laurent and Miu Miu as well as fashion photography and illustration by the likes of Kenneth Paul Block and Lillian Bassman. She’ll also discuss related social rituals from the Roaring Twenties to the present day. The exhibition has been extended through April 15.
