Wellington, FL – Emma Parssi, a 10th-grade student at Wellington Highemmaparssi_photo_by_barbara_brubaker School, has been accepted into the prestigious Broadway Theatre Project’s summer intensive, where she will apprentice with world-class artists and teachers from venues across the country and from a variety of settings, including stage, screen, and academia.

At 15, Ms. Parssi is the youngest performer accepted into the program.  Of 6,000 applicants nationwide, only 100 were accepted. Sixteen is typically the minimum age for acceptance, however the program’s administrators were impressed with Ms. Parssi’s application video and letter of recommendation from former Rockette Kimberly Dawn Smith, her tap instructor at Susan Lyle Studios in Greenacres.

The program runs from July 7 through July 28, culminating in a three-day festival beginning July 25 for family members and the general public at the University of South Florida.

One of the most renowned summer training intensives for high school and college students who wish to further their education within all disciplines of musical theatre, Playbill calls the Broadway Theatre Project “the world’s most prestigious musical theatre arts education program for high school and college students.”

The program’s alumni have performed extensively in Broadway houses and on national tours, motion pictures, television and other media.

Students chosen to apprentice will eat, sleep and breathe musical theatre, with complete immersion in all aspects of dance, acting, and voice.
