ALEXA HAMPTON TO DISCUSS DECORATING IN DETAIL FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS
Lecture luncheon at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa a highlight of Designers’ Show House month-long activities
(MANALAPAN, Fla.) Award-winning interior designer and author Alexa Hampton will offer Decorating in Detail tips from her latest book of the same name at a March 6 lecture luncheon at 11:30 a.m. for the American Red Cross. To be held at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, the luncheon adds yet another layer of activities to the “Birthday Cake Castle,” selected as this year’s American Red Cross Designers’ Show House.
A perennial member of Architectural Digest’s AD100 and House Beautiful’s Top Designer list as well as a member of Elle Décor’s A-list, Hampton’s work is classic and eclectic. Her involvement in design goes far past her position as featured designer of Mark Hampton LLC; she is on the board of trustees for the New York School of Interior Design, the New York Landmarks Conservancy and the Institute for Classical Architecture. She was one of the three inaugural designers who launched Gilt Groupe’s Gilt Home Design Boutiques, serves on the design board of MyDeco.com, was the only ever female cast member of “This Old House” and was a co-host of PBS’ “Find.” Over the years, Hampton’s work has been featured in many national and international shelter and design magazines.
“We were thrilled when my friend Alexa agreed to not only serve as Honorary Chairman of this year’s exciting Show House, but also to help us bring back one of the best-loved Show House activities – our lecture luncheon,” said Show House Chairman Bill Kopp. “Hearing design tips and visually ‘touring’ magnificent rooms with the renowned designer herself is sure to be a sell-out success. Alexa’s work is stunning – perfect for our audience. Guests can drive just over the bridge to a five-diamond beachfront setting at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa to hear her speak during the luncheon. It will make for a wonderful day’s outing, coupled with a visit to the Show House.”
In addition to Kopp and Hampton, Designers’ Show House General Chairmen include Stephen Mooney and Mary Monell Masri; Boutique Chairmen Susan Angert and Frank Maguire; and Landscape Chairman Keith Williams.
Sponsors to date include ADT Home Security, Benjamin Moore, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, Evelyn & Arthur, First Republic Bank, Kirchhoff & Associates Architects, Muses & Visionaries magazine, Panera, Pioneer Linens, Quigley Maguire, Stanley Steemer, Susan’s Jewelry, Mary K. Oxley Foundation and Robert Allen.
The month-long benefit event for the American Red Cross kicks off with a preview party on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at “La Florentia,” nicknamed the “Birthday Cake Castle,” and continues from March 5 through April 4, 2015. Made over by more than 20 renowned interior and exterior designers, the home will be open to the public Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to individuals impacted by disasters both large and small; supplies more than 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
Tickets to the Lecture Luncheon are $75 and include admission to the Show House. Advance registration is required. Ms. Hampton will be available to sign her book, Decorating in Detail, which can be purchased on-site. General admission to the Show House is $35 per person at the door. In addition to tours of the home, guests may also shop an on-site boutique. Special arrangements can also be made to book private events in the home.
