When it comes to plumbing, Hi-Tech is definitely a one-stop shop! Some of their special areas of certification have come about, thanks to the requests of their clients. From tankless water heaters to regular plumbing, they can cover it all! Hi-Tech Plumbing is “backflow certified” – (annual inspection required by Utility Department for Commercial business & some Residential homes with pools, gas-licensed (able to install gas generators, gas lines & appliances), able to do septic tank pumping & drain field replacements for residential properties and grease-traps for restaurants.
“We call ourselves a boutique in plumbing because we cater to our clients every need’, whether complex or a simple service call. Every project is overviewed by a supervisor and always treated with an immediate follow up call,” says Jathynia Garcia, who owns and operates the company with her husband Abiel. Some of their latest popular products include “Easy Water,” a water-conditioning service that requires no salt no maintenance and replaces the bulky water softener tank which requires monthly maintenance. The device measures 1.5 ft. x 1.5 ft and is compact, so you can mount it on the wall. It works with your standard filter system. It conditions the water, maintains the lines and helps protect the household appliances to last longer.
Hi-Tech also provides water filters that require just once a year maintenance. They’re also proud to offer the tankless water heater. As of recently, government rebates have made this upgrade a popular one, paying back 30% of the cost (which can be as much as $1500.00). Another great way to upgrade right now is to make the move to the solar water heater, which has a 30% rebate with no cap. With a solar water heater, you can save hundreds on your electric bill. It makes a lot of sense, especially Florida!
Jathy Garcia also writes a column called “Living Green” for AroundWellington.com, alternating with writer Christine Smith. When asked about the benefits of “going green,” Garcia says that the biggest benefit is for the planet itself…for our future generations. “It’s ridiculous when you see the amount of waste and contamination going around,” she adds. According to Garcia, there are many easy ways to be energy-efficient. For example, checking the toilets & changing out an old flapper in a toilet can save gallons of water each year & put money in the consumers pocket. Changing to an energy efficient toilet will cut back on your water consumption (from approximately two gallons per flush to 1.3 gallons per flush). Garcia believes it’s time to be “cleaner, greener and more sustainable.”

As they see it, drain cleaning is just the beginning of their services. They do kitchen and bathroom remodels (able to coordinate everything from drywall to the final coat of paint). Sometimes their clients just ask for contacts, but other times they ask for Hi-Tech to coordinate every part of the project. “It makes sense,” explains Garcia, “because often the plumbing is the biggest part of the remodel.”
Speaking of “Hi-Tech,” their TV/Video camera inspections can be very helpful. Hi-Tech Plumbing can send a camera down the clogged line, in order to find the problem. “This way you don’t have to be breaking up walls to find the problem,” says Garcia.
This June Hi-Tech will celebrate their tenth anniversary in Palm Beach County. Hi-Tech began as a smaller sole operation when Abiel Garcia started it up with a small office in the garage. Today they are happy to have a 2000 square foot office / warehouse with six service trucks (five for residential service and one for septic).

Garcia cautions against a troubling trend that she sees happening during these trying economic times. People, more than ever before, are attempting to fix things themselves. Sometimes they can make costly mistakes, causing an “end of the day” phone call for an emergency plumbing job. While there have been amazing technological advances in the field of plumbing, “people sometimes try to do things ‘old school,’” says Garcia. They don’t always know what’s energy-efficient and what’s available or appropriate and in the long run, the consumer ends up spending more money then having a real professional do it.
By the way, Jathy and Abiel Garcia have worked one aspect of their family into their marketing scheme. Their Hi-Tech trucks, their business cards and their website all feature an adorable little boy plumber wearing overalls. This is Andy Garcia, their son, who is now five years old. If all goes as planned, Andy will be the “second generation” owner of the family business. He seems to take quite a strong interest in tools and fixing things…so far, so good!
