ZOO TO CELEBRATE BEAR AWARENESS DAYS THIS WEEKEND
May 17, 2012, West Palm Beach, Florida, – The Palm Beach Zoo will celebrate National Bear Awareness Days with fun family programming on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 & 20.
The event will honor Lewis & Clark, the zoo’s black bear brothers.
Zoo visitors are invited to watch as Lewis & Clark enjoy their Bear Awareness Day surprises. At 12:30 p.m., zoo keepers will present training sessions and talks about bears. They will explain what happens when bears get into human trash, and provide great information on what to do if you encounter a bear and how to build a bear-proof trash caddy, plus lots of conservation facts about bear species around the world. There will be kid’s games and interactive bear-themed crafts and face painting.
Visitors will also be invited to enter to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the Black Bear Night House.

About the Palm Beach Zoo
The Palm Beach Zoo is located at 1301 Summit Boulevard, just east of I-95 between Southern and Forest Hill Boulevard. There is ample free parking. The zoo is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day except Christmas and Thanksgiving Day. Open Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. June through October.
