FALL PREVENTION AND RECOVERY

Join Lauren Proença on February 12 for a Discussion on Fall Prevention Tips, Strategies and Recovery Techniques

Palm Beach Gardens, FL – February 3, 2024 – The Mind, Music, and Movement Foundation for Neurological Disorders, Inc. (M3F) continues its winter/spring Coffee Talk series with a presentation by Lauren Proença, PT, DPT, MSCS a Neurologic Clinical Specialist and an expert in fall prevention and recovery techniques. This free and informative event takes place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Tropical Sands Christian Church, 2726 Burns Rd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Registration is required at m3f.org/events or by calling (561) 510-8611 or emailing [email protected].

Proença’s presentation, “Fall Prevention and Recovery,” will address the critical issue of fall-related injuries, particularly among older adults and individuals with neurodegenerative diseases. Participants will learn to fall safely to minimize injury, get up independently or with assistance, and key exercises and habits promoting confidence and safety in daily activities. This interactive session will empower attendees with practical strategies to reduce fall risk and improve recovery techniques.

“Falls are not only a major concern for individuals living with a neurodegenerative disease. Falls affect a majority of people ages 65 and older. It has been reported by the CDC that 1 out of 4 older adults age 65 and up fall each year. Falling once can double your chances for a second fall. This Coffee Talk is designed to give people the knowledge and skills they need to feel safer and more independent in their daily activities,” said Beth Elgort, Founder and President of M3F. “Our Coffee Talk series continues to provide important education and support to empower individuals and caregivers.”
