(West Palm Beach, FL – February 19, 2020) Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden will be hosting 10 fun and horticulturally informative programs and events in March and April. Visitors to Mounts will also want to experience the two ongoing exhibition at Mounts: the family friendly Ribbit the Exhibit and the amazing eco-exhibition CUTTING CORNERS: A Stickwork Exhibit.

Curator Conversations: Ribbit the Exhibit

Join Mounts staff for an insider’s look at Ribbit the Exhibit. This guided tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at J.A. Cobb’s whimsical structures and takes visitors through the Art in the Garden process, from art selection to landscape design. This after hours experience is limited to 20 participants. Registration deadlines are March 17 and April 8, and walk-in are not accepted.

Palm & Cycad Sale

Join the Palm Beach Palm & Cycad Society for their annual spring sale. Talk to experts and choose from a wide variety of palms and cycads, with nearly 500 available for purchase.

 

Mounts 21st Annual Spring Benefit

Sunday, April 5 – 5:30 to 8 pm

At a private garden in Palm Beach

$200 per person

Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden is hosting this enchanting annual fundraising event that will feature an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a lavish silent auction featuring a diverse array of rare and exotic plants, orchids and eye-catching arrangements. The Benefit co-chairs are Polly Reed and Sally Marks. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 561.233.1796.

 

Earth Day’s Birthday

In honor of Earth Day: the 50th Anniversary Mounts Botanical Garden is offering 50 percent off admission, plus some special fun activities including Guided Garden Walks at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm, and Little Earth children’s activities in the Pavilion next to the Gift Shop at 11 am.

This two-day annual event features more than 80 vendors with everything one needs for a home garden, including rare, exotic and hard-to-find plants, trees, herbs and garden accessories, with additional horticultural “must-haves” available for purchase in the Mounts Botanical Gift Shop Nursery and Vintage Shop.

Note: Mounts members can enjoy early entrance at 8 am on Saturday and enjoy a continental breakfast in the Member Hospitality Chickee Hut.

Ribbit the Exhibit

Through May 31, 2020

Come to Mounts and see this enchanting cast of 23 whimsical, larger-than-life frog characters. Follow the exhibit guide to discover them in 17 locations throughout the Garden. Each frog has a name and a story; it’s a fun and interactive experience for families to enjoy together. The Ribbit sculptures are each 5 to 7 feet tall and handcrafted from copper, colored with natural patina with some secured to a solid stone tread, others sitting in chairs or on trees—all designed by artist J.A. Cobb. The delightful tableaux include a hoppy jazz trio, a meditating post-pollywog in Mounts’ Windows on the Floating World, a jiving froggy Fred and Ginger, a coffee-sipping frog enjoying lakeside views, and so many more.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.Mounts.org or at the Garden’s main gate. The last entry and ticket sold each day will be at 3:30 pm.

 

CUTTING CORNERS:

A Stickwork Exhibition

Mounts The Great Lawn

FREE for Mounts members; $15 for nonmembers; $8 for students and RAP members with ID; $5 for children 5 to 12

This awe-inspiring new eco-exhibition is located in the Great Lawn area of the Garden. The interactive, environmental exhibit features an original, massive, stickwork sculpture designed by internationally acclaimed artist Patrick Dougherty and created on site through a “community build”  by 106 volunteers utilizing 30,000 pounds of willow. The exhibition invites visitors to wander through, admire, and become part of a living art experience.
