JUNIOR LEAGUE OF THE PALM BEACHES’ COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN
Deadline for non-profit organizations to apply is March 31, 2021
(West Palm Beach, Fla.) – Non-profits in search of funding from the Junior League of the Palm Beaches (JLPB) have until the end of March to apply for support from its Community Assistance Grants program. The JLPB awards non-profit organizations whose proposed funding would go towards one of the components of the League’s mission – promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The deadline to apply for the Community Assistance Grant is 5 p.m. on March 31, 2021 and selected grantees may receive up to $3,500 in financial aid toward a program or project.
JLPB has awarded more than $130,000 to support community organizations through its Community Assistance Grant program, which was established in 1992. In addition, over the last 20 years JLPB has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to future leaders in high schools throughout Palm Beach County.
“Each of the non-profits have the potential to positively change different aspects of our community in an impactful way,” said Julie Rudolph, president of JLPB. “During this time of great uncertainty, it’s gratifying to know these grants will help improve and can help youth in our community.”
Every April, the JLPB’s Community Advisory Council votes to determine the recipients of these grants. The Advisory Council is composed of Dorothy Jacks, Palm Beach County Property Appraiser; Jeremy Johnson, president and CEO of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County; Sara Nunez, executive director of the Pace Center for Girls in Broward County; Paula Ryan, former West Palm Beach city commissioner; and Whitney Cunningham Walker, senior community relations specialist, Florida Power & Light. The Advisory Council is chaired by Alexandra Chase, JLPB president-elect.
JLPB annually supports dozens of local community organizations – including Quantum House, the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, Boys & Girls Club, Opportunity Early Childhood Education & Family Center, the Palm Beach County Food Bank, and many more. To help support the pressing needs of the community, they provide trained volunteers, donated materials, dedicated programing, and funding opportunities through community grants.
Now celebrating its 80th anniversary, JLPB’s impact on the Palm Beach community began in 1941 when 15 community-minded women established what was then called The Junior Welfare League. Today, JLPB remains an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of its 700 trained volunteers who collectively dedicate more than 3,000 hours of service each year.
