Halloween Contest All over Town
Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29
Halloween in downtown Lake Worth will be a two day Party of Family, Fantasy, Fright and Fun. The entire town will participate with candy, contests, concerts and costumes. Events will take place on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. All events are free to the public.
Saturday is a day of contests for all who want to join in on the fun of this Spooky Holliday and a kick off to the Fall and Holiday Season. The Downtown Merchants, through the DCA, are gathering baskets of prizes and presents for all contest winners. Get into the spirit of the season and enter a contest. There are skill levels for everyone.
DJ’s Dave Francis and Jeff Allen from the Dave & Jeff Show on WDJA Powertalk 1420 AM will host the stages for all of the contests. They will begin at 2:00 PM with the Pumpkin Baking Contest and finish with the Children’s Costume Contest at 6:00 PM.
The Candy Corn Contest: Look for the big jar of Candy Corn in front of the Chamber of Commerce Building on Saturday. For $1 you get to guess how many kernels of corn are in the jar. The winner will receive one half of all of the money collected. The more guesses, the bigger the prize.
The Pumpkin Food Contest: Celebrity judges, chefs from local top restaurants and local stars, will taste one pumpkin creation after another until they come up with three prize winners. The only requirement for this contest is that PUMPKIN be a main ingredient. We are looking for the tastiest treats as well as the most creative use of pumpkin. Please bring your entries to the Chamber of Commerce Building, 501 Lake Avenue, by 1:30 PM on Saturday. Judging will take place at 2:00PM. Prizes will be awarded for the most unique, the tastiest and the most ghoulish.
The Pumpkin Seed Spitting Contest: Prizes for children who spit seeds the farthest. Prizes for Adults who spit seeds the farthest. This spitting contest takes place at 3:00 PM in front of the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce Building.
Jack-O-Lantern Contest: Artists at the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery will judge the Pumping Carving/ Painting Contest. Bring your best carved or painted Pumpkin to the front of the gallery by 3:30 Friday afternoon. Children’s entries will be judged at 4PM. Adult entries will be judged at 4:30 PM. The most intricately carved or painted pumpkins or the most innovative use of the pumpkin in creating a work of art will be considered. Two prizes for child pumpkins and two for adults will be awarded.
Pet Costume Contest: Dress your pets in their funniest or scariest Halloween Costumes and bring them down to Paws on the Avenue, Lake and “L” Streets for the Pet Costume Contest. Paws will be awarding the three pets with the most creative costumes, prizes. The Pet Contest takes place at 5:00 PM on Saturday.
Children’s Costume Contest: Children by the hundreds will be pouring into Lake Worth all day long. After a day of trick-or- treating, and before the evening of scary movies in the Plaza, bring your children over to Paws on the Avenue for a Children’s Halloween Costume Contest. All children are winners, but three grand prizes will be awarded. The children’s contest takes place at 6:00 PM.
The Downtown Cultural Alliance (DCA) is a non-profit association of Downtown merchants and residents working together to keep Downtown Lake Worth vibrant and welcoming. The DCA is working the Lake Worth CRA and LULA, the City of Lake Worth and the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce to coordinate Evenings on the Avenue, the Second Saturday Sidewalk Sales, all Holiday Events and special events.
