The evening will include Open Bar, Fine Dining, Dancing and a Silent as well as Live Auction, benefiting the Rotary Club of Wellington Foundation. About Dr. Carmine A. Priore
A resident of Wellington for 28 years and of South Florida for more than
60 years, Dr. Priore was elected to the Village of Wellington Council in March 1996 and re-elected in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He served as Wellington’s Mayor from 1998-2000. In March, 2010, Dr. Priore was honored by his colleagues by being appointed as Mayor pro tem for Wellington.
Dr. Priore began his civic involvement in 1992 when he was elected to the Acme Improvement District’s Board of Supervisors and served as the Board’s President from 1994 to 1996. He is the past President of the Palm Beach County League of Cities and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida League of Cities. He has served as Chair and Board Liaison of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee and has served as a member of the Advocacy Committee and Federal Action Strike Team of the Florida League of Cities. In August, 2008 he was elected President of the Florida League of Cities. At the Florida League of Cities Annual conference in August, 2010, he was awarded the distinguished E. Harris Drew Lifetime Achievement Award. This is a highly regarded award given to elected officials who have dedicated themselves to excellence in municipal government. Dr. Priore also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the National League of Cities.
In 1996, Governor Lawton Chiles appointed Dr. Priore to the Commission on Local Government II. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust and Chairman from 2008-2012. In 2002, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Dr. Priore to the Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations (LCIR). He was a member of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council from 2002-2012 and has served as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Traffic Performance Standards Committee. He has served as the Palm Beach County League representative to the Land Development Regulatory Commission. He was a member of the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Planning Organization from 2009-2012. Governor Charlie Crist appointed Dr. Priore to the 2010 US Census Complete Count Committee for the State of Florida. He was also the recipient of the 2010 Florida County and City Managers Association’s President’s Award. In May of 2012, Dr. Priore was awarded the Palm Beach County League of Cities’ “Defender of Home Rule”.
Dr. Priore graduated from the Medical College of Virginia. He received both his Bachelor of Science Degree and his MBA from the University of Miami. Dr. Priore has served as President of the Palm Beach County Dental Association and the Wellington Rotary Club, where he is still a member. He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Palms West Hospital and was a member of the Board of Directors of Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce for six years. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Wellington.
