October, 2012 – The Purple Purse Campaign Against Domestic Violence
We are very excited that Allstate and YWCA USA has selected the YWCA of Palm Beach County to be a part of Allstate’s annual purple purse campaign. We are 1 of only 14 Y’s in the country for this opportunity. During the month of October, Domestic Violence month, we will be circulating 10 purple purses throughout the area. The goal is for 1,000 women to read the info in the purse and on line about domestic violence. When they go to the purple purse campaign they can register the number of the purse that they have in their possession at the time. For every hit ( no money has to be contributed) on line, the YWCA of Palm Beach County receives $10. We can receive as much as $10,000 during the month to go to Harmony House which could certainly put it to good use.
We would be delighted if you could get your church or temple, community organization, business, government agency, housing complex or development etc. to pass the purse quickly during the month. Please let me know if you are willing to help.
