SMART Ride Breaks Fundraising Record

On Tuesday, October 19, 2012 SMART Ride announced a new record as fundraising hit and broke the $500,000 mark. Glen Weinzimer, Founder with excitement sent out a note to all participants congratulating them for breaking a fundraising record with 20+/- days until the actual event this November 16-17 2012.  Organizers believe with the current level of enthusiasm reaching and exceeding last year’s record of  $681,000 is well within reach and is on target to hit $800,000 this year.

The SMART Ride is a 2 day, 165 mile bicycle ride from Miami to Key West with 100% of all proceeds raised by the participants going back to help AIDS Service Organizations throughout the state. The SMART Ride sold out in July for riders and in September for support crew.

SMART Ride benefits 7 AIDS Service Organizations in Florida. The recipients are AIDS Help in Key West, Center for Positive Connections in Miami, The Pride Center and Children’s Diagnostic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Comprehensive AIDS Program in West Palm Beach, Miracle of Love in Orlando and Metropolitan Charities in Tampa/St Pete.  This year a new program, the 10% Lifeline has been established where 10% of all funds raised will remain in a pool to be given out throughout the year where the needs exist throughout the state.
