Wellington Earns Top Honors for CAFR, 19 Years Running

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded Wellington’s Office of Financial Management & Budget the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the Fiscal Year 2014 CAFR. This certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and reporting. It is a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

This is Wellington’s 19th consecutive year receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. Wellington gives special recognition to Manager of Financial Reporting, Mindy Boersma, for her significant contribution to the body of work that earned this esteemed honor.    This accolade reflects the commitment that Village staff have for meeting the highest principles and best practices in governmental accounting and reporting.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit, professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America.
