VARIETY AND IMPROV COMEDY ARE FEBRUARY FAVORITES AT LAKE WORTH PLAYHOUSE

LAKE WORTH, Florida (January 18, 2010) – In February, the Lake Worth Playhouse presents two one ofakind shows with budgetfriendly pricing: the live improv comedy show, Night of a Gazillion Laughs on Monday, February 1, 2010 at 8:00 p.m and the Playhouse semiannual variety show, Take the Stage: Spring 2010 on Saturday, February 13 at 8:00 p.m.

LakeWorth’s newfangled improv comedy troupe, The LDub Players, present an interactive show made up of sketches, games and improvisations based on audience suggestions. This comedy collaboration is a live show that is hatched in the moment, made up freshandnew right before the audience’s eyes making it a oneofakind show never before seen and never to be seen again. Tickets are $5.

Take the Stage – Spring 2010 features local South Florida performers. The eclectic batch of Take the Stage artists, musicians, singers, dancers, comedians and other performers will come together for one night only on Saturday, February 13 for this semiannual fundraising performance. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 12.

Artist Jeannette Pomeroy Parssi and  Daughter Allison

To Exhibit at Chicago Area Art Event

Wellington, FL Two paintings by Wellington artist Jeannette Pomeroy Parssi and a black and white photograph taken by her daughter Allison will be included in a Chicago-area fine art exhibit celebrating women in the arts.

Presented annually by the Northwest Area Arts Council, “Women’s Works” focuses on female artists of North America, providing an opportunity to showcase the creative efforts of women in the visual arts.  The exhibit will take place at the Old Court House Arts Center on the Historic Town Square in Woodstock, Illinois, about an hour’s drive north of Chicago.  The exhibition opens March 4 and runs through April 24, 2010 with the opening reception March 13th, 2010 from 6-9pm.

Running concurrently with this show is the fourteenth annual “Little Women’s Works” featuring (and nurturing) the artistic achievements of young women. A black and white photograph by Allison Parssi, which was recently awarded a gold key in the Scholastic Regional Art Competition, will be part of  the exhibit.  This show runs March 4th through May 2nd, 2010. The opening reception is April 17th from 2-4pm.

Parssi’s paintings, “Winter Forest” and “Foggy Morning,”  were created using vegetables in place of paint brushes, something she began experimenting with recently.  Allison’s photograph was taken on her back porch, with her mom’s orchid collection providing the subject matter.  “We’re both very excited,” said Jeannette Pomeroy Parssi.  “As an artist it’s always nice to receive validation for your work.  I’m probably happier about Allison having a piece in the show,” added the proud mom.  “I’m so happy that we will be exhibiting together.”  This is not the first time mom and daughter have shared a venue: both have work on display at the museum store at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts, Tequesta, and the Craft Gallery in West Palm Beach.   For more information, or to view the artists’ work, visit www.JPParssi.com and www.AllisonParssi.com.
