Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival Announces Cast

Shakespeare by the Palms Production of “As You Like It”
January 30 – February 2

Royal Palm Beach, Florida (December 12, 2024) The Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival is presenting its first wintertime Festival with the Shakespeare by the Palms V production of “As You Like It” on January 30 – February 2 at the Commons Park Amphitheater in Royal Palm Beach. Presented by The Village of Royal Palm Beach and sponsored by Gary and Katherine Parr, the performances take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 per person.

“We are incredibly excited to have this multitalented group of artists join us for our first wintertime Shakespeare Festival,” says Shakespeare Festival Managing Producer, Elizabeth Dashiell. “Artistic Director Trent Stephens has put together a brilliant script that plays to the strength of our talented performers and we cannot wait to share it with our year-round residents and seasonal visitors.”

The cast list includes last summer’s Dr. Kevin Crawford Fellowship recipient Lee Ritter (King Lear) in the role of Rosalind; Festival newcomer Tristen Hooks (Big Fish) as Orlando; Company actor Sara Grant (Macbeth, King Lear) as Celia; Madi Fernandez (Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) returning to the Festival in the role of Phoebe; guest artist Ben Lusk as Oliver, and Company veteran performer Daryl Willis as Adam. All performers will play multiple roles, and live music will be performed by guest artist Ben Lusk (Forlorn Strangers, The Rally Club).

“As You Like It” follows the resourceful Rosalind and her friends as she journeys from the Royal Court to the Forest of Arden. Disguised as a shepherd, Rosalind encounters her love, Orlando, and decides to befriend him as a shepherd boy and cure Orlando of his “lovesickness” for Rosalind. Witty words and romance play out while the disputes between a pair of brothers comes to a happy ending for all.

(Vero Beach, FL – December 13, 2024) Rochelle Wolberg, Executive Director of McKee Botanical Garden, is inviting holiday revelers of every age to be celebrate an 18-year tradition at the dazzling JUNGLE LIGHTS exhibition now on brilliant display throughout the garden’s gorgeous 18 acres of horticultural subtropical splendor.  Visitors can enjoy the wondrous sights from 6 to 9 pm nightly (except Mondays) through December 29.

“These dazzling nights of JUNGLE LIGHTS are the only time visitors can experience this unique tropical oasis after dark, giving them a unique opportunity to capture and share beautiful memories of a rare and heartwarming sensory experience in nature,” says Wolberg. “We encourage people to experience the Jungle Trails as never before with illuminated Bromeliads, flora and fauna with exotic soundscapes—all illuminated by more than 200,000 LED lights and displays.”

Highlight of JUNGLE LIGHTS at McKee include:

  • Thousands of LED lights on McKee’s Main Jungle Trail and pathways, exotic palms, oak trees, waterfalls, and along its tranquil streams.
  • Largest illuminated Christmas Tree in Indian River County, measuring 32 feet tall.
  • Spectacular model train display (December 14-15, December 17-22, and December 26-29 only).
  • 1924 Wurlitzer Band Organ performances (December 17-20 only).
  • Varied nightly entertainment from local choral and musical groups.
  • Visit Santa (December 10-15 and December 17-22), 6:30 to 8 pm.
  • The Garden Café will offer festive food and spirits, and the Gift Shop will showcase unique crafts and gift ideas.
  • Snowflake Glasses ($10) while supplies last. Everything turns to snowfall with these magical holographic glasses. They come with hot chocolate, too.
  • Parking is available in McKee’s adjacent lots with complimentary shuttle service from the remote lot just south of the Gardens main entrance on US-1 and from off-site parking located south of the Garden at 146 Vista Royale Blvd

Tickets to JUNGLE LIGHTS are $20 for adults and seniors; $10 for youth (2-17); children under 2 years of age are free. For McKee members, admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children (2-17).

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Garden Admissions during normal hours or online at www.mckeegarden.org. During JUNGLE LIGHTS, ticket purchases for admission will require a credit card.

He arrives on the doorstep and discovers that the elderly woman living there has lifetime habitation rights under an arcane French law. Because he has no other place to go, she invites him to stay in the spacious apartment. Palm Beach Gardens, FL – December 12, 2024 – The Mind, Music, and Movement Foundation for Neurological Disorders, Inc. (M3F) proudly announces the launch of its winter/spring Coffee Talk series, a platform designed to educate and inspire the community. The series kicks off with a presentation by Dr. Linda Pao, MD, a renowned neurologist with over thirty-two years of experience in neurological care. Dr. Pao will share insights on the latest advancements in diagnosing and treating neurodegenerative disorders. This free and interactive event will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Tropical Sands Christian Church, 2726 Burns Rd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Ephraim Sun & Stars International Film Festival© (SASIFF), presented by MorseLife, returns early next year with more than two-dozen world-class movies from all over the world, kicking off with a razzle-dazzle screening of LIZA: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story. The Florida Premiere of this sizzling documentary about superstar Liza Minnelli will be shown on Thursday, January 23, in the Kravis Center’s Rinker Playhouse, 701 Okeechobee Blvd in West Palm Beach 33401.

Directed by Bruce David Klein—who has been invited to attend on opening night—LIZA was described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a generous portrait of a legendary showbiz survivor, warmly celebratory but also unquestionably authentic.” Minnelli is, of course, a very rare EGOT winner as a recipient of the “Grand Slam” of entertainment honors: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.

“One film is barely enough to encompass all the facets of Liza Minnelli’s life and career, but director Klein pulls it off with many a humorously bossy aside from the Oscar-winning Cabaret star herself. Wellington Bay Kicks Off the Holiday Season… 

with Jingle and Mingle Tree Lighting Event

WELLINGTON, FL — On Thursday, December 5, 2024, luxury retirement community Wellington Bay hosted its Jingle and Mingle Tree Lighting in the main lobby, bringing residents, staff, and loved ones together to celebrate the holiday season. The event featured live festive music performed by local guitarist Ian Cooney, delicious holiday treats, and warm camaraderie among residents.

The beautifully decorated tree was a highlight of the evening, adorned with elegant red and gold ornaments and topped with a unique twist—a top hat in place of the traditional angel or star. Santa Claus made a special appearance to take pictures, delighting attendees and spreading holiday cheer.

“This is a time of joy and togetherness,” said Jay Mikosch, Campus Director of Wellington Bay. “Our Jingle and Mingle Tree Lighting is a wonderful tradition that brings us together to celebrate the spirit of the season. The laughter, good cheer, and shared moments remind us all of the importance of community and connection.”
