Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s

 43rd Annual Christmas Ball

December 11, 2014

PALM BEACH, FL– Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s 43rd Annual Christmas Ball will take place  on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach. This elegant holiday event known affectionately to long time supporters as the “Doggie Ball” supports the mission of helping homeless, neglected or injured dogs and cats.  Pauline Pitt, a dedicated League supporter and board member serves as Chairwoman again this year.

This magical evening filled with holiday lights, garlands, festive Christmas trees and decorations around the club, begins with a receiving line of adorable pets greeting guests with tails a-wagging as they arrive on the red carpet.  Later in the evening the dogs and cats parade through the party to the tune of “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?” in order for the guests to get a second look.  This parade of precious pets always results in a few furry friends finding their new loving forever homes.

Guests will also enjoy an annual tradition of shopping at the Shaggy Shoppe boutique to find holiday gifts for their pets and pet loving friends while at the Ball. The Shaggy Shoppe features designer dog and cat beds, pet food dishes, collars & leashes, carriers, pictures frames and much more.

Tickets are $500 per person.  To learn more about available sponsorship opportunities, or for tickets please call 561-472-8845 or email peggynews@peggyadams.org

Don McLean and Judy Collins

Few performers have stood the test of time as well as Don McLean and Judy Collins. Don McLean has had a long and successful songwriting and performing career. In fact, “American Pie” is widely considered one of the top songs of the 20th century. A virtuoso of a variety of vocal styles, Don can – and does – inspire a range of emotions with his singing. Judy, too, began inspiring audiences with her sublime vocals, vulnerable songwriting and commitment to social activism. Five decades and 50 albums later, Judy, who began her impressive career at 13 as a piano prodigy, remains a vigorous writer and performer of songs that create hope and healing and speak to the heart. She also stays active in social causes. Don and Judy will ensure that audiences enjoy a “starry, starry night.”

2014 Red Cross Beach Bash to Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Lilly Pulitzer fashion house sponsors “What Happens in the Jungle, Stays in the Jungle”

(PALM BEACH, Fla.) — When you gather more than 600 party-goers dressed in various shades of pink and green to celebrate the American Red Cross, Lilly or louder, is what you’ll get.  Marking the 8th anniversary of the not-to-be-missed event, this year’s Beach Bash leadership will again collaborate with fashion house Lilly Pulitzer to take a walk on the wild side on December 26, 2014 with a “What Happens in the Jungle, Stays in the Jungle” theme.

The late fashion icon’s own backyard was nicknamed “the jungle.” It was there that she happily entertained her guests amid the lush foliage and roaming wild cats. This year, Palm Beach’s next generation of philanthropic leaders return to The Beach Club for their own jungle-themed adventure in fundraising. Deemed the season’s hottest party, the event attracts young socialites from Palm Beach, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago and Miami, all to benefit the Palm Beach chapter of the American Red Cross.

“Beach Bash has become a signature event on the Palm Beach social calendar,” noted Rob Levine, Chief Executive Officer for American Red Cross, South Florida Region. “The American Red Cross is grateful to the Lilly Pulitzer Corporation for their continued partnership throughout the years. Their sponsorship has been central to the success of Beach Bash and helping raise funds for our vital humanitarian mission.”

The event’s 2014 committee members include Bobby and Ivey Leidy, Zach Berg, Amanda Coleman, Chris DiSchino, Mary Victoria Falzarano, Richard Gaff, Nick Kassatly, Lilly Leas, Chris Leidy, Carl Loof, Brooke Chapman-Marshman, Whitney McGurk, Dabney Mercer, Tinsley Mortimer, Robert Murphy, Hess Musallet, Stacy Nichols, Stephanie Pittington, Ted and Elena Peroulakis, Phil Reagan, Kelly Ring, Richard and Lauriston Segerson, Siobhan Helene Shea, Andrew Steel, Bruce Sutka and Angela Vecellio.

All proceeds from the Beach Bash support the lifesaving work of the American Red Cross, helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Across the American Red Cross South Florida Region, every 28 hours on average, a neighbor calls upon local Red Cross volunteers for emotional support, food, clothing and shelter after a fire, flood, hurricane or other disaster.

In addition to the generous ongoing support of the Lilly Pulitzer Corporation, Zach Berg will also be a sponsor that evening. Tickets start at $250 and sponsorship packages and opportunities are still available. For more information, please contact Analisa Muti at 561-650-9133 or analisa.muti@redcross.org.

“I’m honored to be chairing this event for the third consecutive year,” said Randolph. “And thrilled to welcome the support of my co-chair, Val Perez.  Val and I are really looking forward to the new ‘Better Ball’ format, as we know it will create opportunities for competitive fun – all for a great cause.  It is through events such as this that the Science Center can continue to ‘open every mind to science,’ creating new programming, such as GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) Club and ‘Science on Tap.’”

The South Florida Science Center’s Young Professionals Organization is a dynamic group of individuals dedicated to engaging the community in support of science, furthering the Center’s educational mission through service and community outreach.  Members receive the inside scoop on what’s new at the Center, invitations to VIP previews of new exhibits and shows, as well as opportunities to attend social and networking events throughout the year.

Afterlife: Tombs & Treasures of Ancient Egypt, the Science Center’s next traveling exhibition, will open to the public on October 11, 2014, running through April 18, 2015.  In true Science Center style, the highly anticipated blockbuster exhibition will have interactive components, making it feel like guests have taken a trip to Egypt to explore ancient artifacts and tombs.

“We are grateful to the Science Center’s Young Professional Organization, who continue to promote the significance of science education in our community,” said Lew Crampton, Science Center CEO.  “We are also thankful that Mayacoo Lakes Country Club has welcomed us back again, as their course design incorporates both challenge and playability for every skill level.  We invite all types of golfers –new friends and old- to join us for a day of fun, all in the name of science.”

Boo at the Zoo Announced for October 2014

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —The public is invited to have a howlin’ good time at Palm Beach County’s most-loved Halloween event: “Boo at the Zoo!” Guests can enjoy trick-or-treating, costume contests, the decorate-your-own pumpkin patch, live music from a DJ in the Interactive Play Fountain area, giveaways, haystack hunt, face painting or airbrush tattoos, roving animal encounters, not-so-scary wildlife presentations and much more. The popular tradition continues this October at the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation. The 17th annual “Boo at the Zoo” will take place on the following dates and times:

· October 17 – 19, October 24 – 26 and October 31st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

· Friday evenings on October 17th, 24th and 31st from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

One way the Zoo is following its mission of environmental conservation is by only offering candy from companies that are a part of the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

In addition to the stations presented by the Zoo, local businesses and organizations will be set up so children can trick-or-treat at the specific locations. Games, arts and crafts, a haystack hunt ($1 fee) and a child-friendly haunted house in the Florida Pioneer House will entertain young visitors. Children can also purchase a pumpkin to decorate on-site at a pumpkin patch. All funds raised will go toward the care and feeding of the Zoo’s animals.
