MAGIC OF CARING EVENT RAISES $50,000 TO BENEFIT CHILDREN WITH ARTHRITIS

MagicofCaringFashionShow
Models strutting their stuff…..Gabrielle Ferraiolo, Ethan Abramowitz, Ava Obeso, Casey Trotter, Leeah Rath, Hudson Domb, Bailey Zajc, Lauren Andres.

The Arthritis Foundation’s 17th Annual Magic of Caring Children’s Fashion Show, featuring children who have arthritis as the models, was held on Sunday, April 6 at the Palm Beach Gardens Marriott.  This event, which raised $50,000 to benefit children with arthritis,  allows these kids who live with daily pain, to shine in the spotlight while spreading the word that ‘Kids Get Arthritis, Too’.  Nearly 200 attendees enjoyed a savory lunch, preceded by a fabulous Silent Auction.  Shawna Lamb shared her story about living with arthritis, and about having a child with arthritis.  Dr. Steven Goodman, pediatric Rheumatologist, was honored for his continued support and dedication to children with juvenile arthritis.

Following the luncheon, Emerson Lotzia, Sports Anchor/Reporter ESPN West Palm, WPTV, Fox 29, emceed the fashion show, featuring fashions from H&M Department Store.  16 models, between the ages of 3-16, strutted their stuff on the runway and were surprised by the news from David Donten that they could keep their outfits, compliments of the C. Kenneth and Laura Baxter Foundation.   “To see the smiles on their faces, makes the time and effort of planning this event all worthwhile”,  says Cheryl Cummings, Chairwoman.

Proceeds from the Magic of Caring will support research aimed at discovering a cure for juvenile arthritis, and help to send children with arthritis to one of three special summer camps in Florida.  This camp experience gives these children an opportunity to interact with other children affected by arthritis, and affords them the chance to momentarily forget their illness.  The cost to send one child to camp is $1,000.

The success of this event depends on the generosity of  our sponsors and we want to thank them:  C. Kenneth & Laura Baxter Foundation, Arthritis Associates of S. Florida, Doreen & Steven Goodman, M.D., Genentech, Florida Crystals, Mark & Lisa Delevie, Delray MRI, Toshiba Business Solutions, Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates of Palm Beach, Davinci Radiology Group, Dr. Michael Roseff, Drs. Carrie & Charlton Stucken, Dr. & Mrs. Howard Busch, Philip Whitacre.  We also want to thank the Event Committee:  Andrea Abramowitz, Rose Marie Boyle, Kelly Ferraiolo, Terry Gearing, Justin Grandic, Shawna Lamb, Christine Pitts, Margaret Rath,  Patricia Rath, & Sarah Salvador.

April, 2014 – A New Junk Adventure

Lake Worth Couple Takes On New Junk Adventure

A couple years ago, Dave Archer was on a jet headed to London for his company’s annual corporate meeting.  A marketing executive with more than thirty years experience, Archer served as Vice President for a global medical technology business. But last year all that changed when he traded in boardrooms for living rooms.  Today you’ll more likely find him on a bright red junk truck!

Dave and Toni Archer.
Dave and Toni Archer.

Archer and his wife, Toni, recently purchased a Junk King franchise and set up shop in Lake Worth, Florida.  The couple, who have been married for over 40 years, were looking to take on a new adventure.  They had been splitting time between Memphis, Tennessee and Lake Worth and were ready to be permanently back in Florida.  Archer knew it was time to start his own business in the place they’ve called home for the last 11 years.

After researching many options, Archer decided on the junk removal company called Junk King.  It was Junk King’s commitment to customer service and detail that sold the former marketing executive. He appreciated a company that identified its brand as customer-driven and eco-friendly.  He knew that whatever business he brought to his town had to be the best in its field.  Junk King of Palm Beach opened for business in 2013.  Toted as “America’s best junk removal and hauling service,” Junk King will remove junk and provide peace of mind.  The junk haulers strive for excellence with every interaction.  Every employee wears a uniform, maintains a professional attitude and stays until the job is done.  “Simply put, we want to be the best at what we do.” says Archer.

Archer’s wife helps run the back end of the business.  Toni Archer formerly worked as a preschool teacher.  She, too, is enjoying her new role.  “The skill sets are really transferable,” says Mrs. Archer.  “I help with organization, relationship management and educating our customers.  The only difference is my audience is a little older!”

Junk King of Palm Beach is located in Lake Worth.  The junk removers will take just about anything and everything from your property.  From electronics, to concrete pavers, to hot tub removals to estate cleanouts, Junk King will do it all.  “The goal,” says Archer, “is to make junk removal easier, eco-friendly and cost effective.”

To schedule a free estimate or learn more, go to www.junk-king.com or call 1-888-888-JUNK (5865).
