Refunds, credits, or transfer of classes will not be honored for no-shows or cancellations made fewer than 24 hours before event. All events are subject to change. Classes with low registration may be cancelled.  Any classes cancelled by Whole Foods Market will be refunded. Space is limited.

April is Earth Month and to help celebrate our planet, Chef Joe will demonstrates how to prepare Pumpkin Seed Pesto, Bean Salad with Quinoa, and Kale, Mushroom, and Tomato Sauté with Polenta, all fresh, “from the earth” ingredients.  All participants will taste these amazing dishes and learn what our Planet Earth has to offer.  NOTE: Recipes are based on availability of ingredients and may change.  Also, all ingredients used are gluten-free; however, our facility is not certified gluten free.

In this class for kids ages 6-12, we will have a variety of Earth inspired colored frostings for kids to create their own alien to take home. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must be pre-registered.

The Wellington Chamber of Commerce recently had a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The William Wright Collection located at 419 North Dixie Highway, Lake Worth, Florida. If you are looking for a showroom with fine furniture and accent pieces that are unique and eye catching, The William Wright Collection is your destination spot to browse and shop.
William Wright was born and raised in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He came from humble beginnings and a teacher at school noticed that he may like to earn a few extra dollars so she invited him to clean her house. Williams said that his teacher Mrs.Craig was “the teacher that changed my life.” While at her home, he was introduced to finer home furnishings. He learned how to care for and clean valuable antique items, expensive rugs, gold items; all of which he did not have in his own home. Because he did well at his work, other jobs followed. William noted that that one teacher offering him hid first job and taking him under her wing opened his eyes to the possibilities of things that he could have one day.
William later attended Western Kentucky University earned a B.A. in the Performing Arts. After graduating, he worked various jobs as a set designer. This was his focus and passion but it didn’t pay well. He then went into merchandising and sales for furniture stores and soon became a buyer. Years later, the store he was working for was being sold so he took the advice of a friend and moved to Florida in 1996. He quickly became a buyer for an interior design company in Jupiter. Over time he started managing designers so he went back to school to get a degree in management.
The next step for William was to open his own store which he did December 2012.
With 18 years of experience in furniture design William said that his store is a niche for interior designers to buy very popular items in scale and in a precise color for rooms they are creating. His showroom also allows him to make his items available to the public. He noted that his furniture and accessories are high quality with middle to low prices. He added that because of his design experience, there is “uniqueness and flash factor” to every piece.

Starting Tuesday, April 2, the Kevin Perkins Golf Academy will again be conducting its very popular Junior After-School Spring Golf Program, at the Binks Forest Golf Club, in Wellington.  

The Junior After-School Program is open to boys and girls ages 7-17 and will take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:30pm-5:30pm.

Volunteers Needed for the Great American Cleanup on April 13th

 Wellington is calling on its residents to roll up their sleeves and make a difference in the community with the Great American Cleanup! Wellington is organizing cleanup beautification projects from 9:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, April 13th at Tiger Shark Cove Park and the Folkestone neighborhood off Greenbriar Blvd. Volunteers will receive water throughout the morning and gloves, trash bags and t-shirts will be supplied by Wellington.

 To register for the event, visit www.wellingtonfl.gov and click on the “Great American Cleanup” icon on the events section and download the volunteer application form. Completed forms can be returned to the front desk at Wellington’s Village Hall or participants can scan and email the form to Kim Henghold, Community Programs Manager, at [email protected]. Volunteer registration forms can also be completed on site on the day of the event.

Celebrate Earth Day with Free Giveaways at the Wellington Amphitheater

Jump on your bike, get in your low-fuel emitting car or put your walking shoes on and join Wellington in celebrating Earth Day and Arbor Day on Sunday, April 21st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Wellington Amphitheater located at 12100 Forest Hill Boulevard. The first 250 guests will receive free samples of smoothies and reusable bags! In addition, local vendors will be conducting presentations on earth friendly products, and free samples of seedlings and wildflower seeds will be distributed.

This exciting, family-friendly event will feature demonstrations by Whole Foods Market, Bee Understanding, a performance by the Binks Forest Elementary School Chorus at 5:00 pm, information about greening your home and a special appearance by the Muck Monster of the Lake Worth Lagoon.

Brew At The Zoo

Raise your pilsner and let’s toast to conservation and animals at the Palm Beach Zoo’s first-ever Brew at the Zoo on April 27th.

You’ll sample more than 50 beers including some new brews from 20 craft breweries.  You’ll also get up close and personal with certain animals during our roving encounters.  VIP admission includes exclusive premium beer samples, t-shirt and free food courtesy of Rooney’s Public House.

Proceeds support animal care, conservation, education and sustainability at the Palm Beach Zoo.

Save The Tiger 5k

Fewer than 300 Malayan Tigers are estimated to be left in the world.  Four of these magnificent creatures live at the Palm Beach Zoo; mom Berapi and her three offspring Jaya, Bunga, and Penari.  To celebrate the cubs’ second birthday and to support tiger conservation, we are hosting the first-ever Palm Beach Zoo “Save the Tiger 5k” on May 11, 2013 at 7:30am.  This unique run winds through Dreher Park and finishes in the spectacular fountain plaza inside the Zoo!  Help us save this beautiful, endangered species by registering here.  Register at https://register.gorun.org/SaveTheTiger5K or www.palmbeachzoo.org/events.html .

Second Annual Wellington Kids Triathlon

 

Calling all young athletes! Get ready to swim, bike and run in the Second Annual Wellington Kids Triathlon! This exciting and challenging endurance event takes place on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 and begins at the Wellington Aquatics Complex located at 12150 Forest Hill Boulevard.

 

The Wellington Kids Triathlon is limited to children born between 1999 and 2009 and is designed as an introduction to a multi-sport endurance event within a safe and positive environment. The top male and female finishers in each age group will receive a trophy and all participants will receive a medal. Registration is $35 and includes a t-shirt for each competitor.

Science-Fiction Meets Eye-Popping Comic Book Art in Live, Theatrical Production

(WEST PALM BEACH-April 4, 2013)-When The Intergalactic Nemesis Live-Action Graphic Novel premiered in 2010, more than 2,100 people turned out. Shortly thereafter, it was featured on NPR and Conan O’Brien. Now, in its second touring season, the production hits 40 venues around the US, UK, and Canada, including a run at the New Victory Theatre on Broadway April 1-14. Fans of science-fiction, comics books or live theater will thrill to this one-of-a-kind, all-ages show in the Rinker Playhouse at The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m.

The premise is simple: a period adventure story (with no small share of laughs) featuring Pulitzer-winning reporter Molly Sloan, her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez, and a mysterious librarian named Ben Wilcott as they face the most serious threat Earth has ever known: an impending invasion of sludge monsters from the planet Zygon.

The telling is what makes the experience of The Intergalactic Nemesis so incredibly unique: while three actors, one Foley artist, and one keyboardist perform all the voices, sound effects and music, more than 1,000 hand-drawn, full-color, hi-rez, blow-your-mind comic-book images blast from the screen, all performed LIVE.

“In 20 years of directing and producing plays, I’ve never seen an audience respond so positively,” says project creator Jason Neulander. “A must-see!” reports the Austin Chronicle.
