Volunteers are encouraged to pre-register by contacting the volunteer coordinator at their chosen location. All supplies will be provided and commemorative t-shirts will be given away to volunteers while supplies last. Community service hours will be given.

Background

Looking to make Palm Beach County a cleaner, greener, more livable place? Local non-profit, Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, Inc. and the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County encourage you to get involved in the 2012 Great American Cleanup™, a national campaign organized by nonprofit Keep America Beautiful.

In what continues to be the nation’s largest grassroots community improvement program, Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful’s volunteers will clean up litter and debris from public spaces, neighborhoods, roadways, waterways, parks, and schools.  Additional community improvement activities include tree and landscape plantings, and other beautification projects. Moreover, the Great American Cleanup is a significant opportunity for local organizations to coordinate activities that encourage civic engagement and action.

The Great American Cleanup takes place across the country in urban areas and rural hamlets alike, reaching its apex during the spring season. Throughout the months of March, April and May, an anticipated 1,200 KAB affiliates and participating organizations will bring together an estimated 3.8 million volunteers to produce more vibrant, beautiful, cleaner and safer towns and cities.

The 2012 theme — #GreenStartsHere – is a call to action that civic leaders and volunteer groups can use to create more sustainable communities. Focusing their volunteer efforts on activities surrounding waste reduction, recycling, beautification and community greening, Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful will foster unity and strengthen community bonds through the Great American Cleanup. Following Palm Beach County’s official Cleanup date, the national movement will be highlighted by a National Day of Action on Saturday, April 28, featuring large-scale cleanups and coordinated events in cities across the country – including some in Palm Beach County.

“Service to the community is the ultimate demonstration that you love where you live,” said Matthew McKenna, President and CEO of Keep America Beautiful. “Participating in the Great American Cleanup can become a foundation for uniting friends, family, neighbors and communities in activities that don’t just make your community aesthetically pleasing, but also make it more effective at overcoming challenges.”

May, 2012 – Crossfit Boca Raton & Bar Mitzvah Boy Give Back to Israel Defense Forces and Forgotten Soldiers Outreach

CROSSFIT BOCA RATON & BAR MITVAH BOY GIVE BACK TO ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES AND FORGOTTEN SOLDIERS OUTREACH

Do you want to help our troops?  Here are three opportunities to come out and leave your partisan politics at home.  Join us for these three upcoming events.  If you would like to volunteer please feel free to give me a call.  Generation to generation, we need to remember our greatest natural resource…Our Troops.

Contact:

Tara Laxer

(561) 289-6031

( Boca Raton ) Matthew Kanterman is being Bar Mitzvah and for his Mitzvah project he wants to raise money for two local organizations that he has learned about over the past couple of years from his Aunt Tara Laxer. Working with Crossfit Boca Raton, Matthew is going to donate the funds to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Inc and Israel Defense Force. FSO delivers packages to our US troops who are serving overseas while IDF insures that Israeli soldiers also receive the support they need when they are away from their families.

Crossfit Boca Raton invites the community to join them for one of two classes on Saturday May 19 at 8:30 am and another workout of the day (WOD) at 10:30am. We ask for a minimum donation of $10 per a WOD. The event will be at Crossfit Boca Raton (The Garage) in Boca Raton on 10018 Spanish Isles Blvd#A51 on 441 between Clint Moore Rd and Yamato Rd. Don’t forget water and towel.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help Matthew raise money for such incredible groups through exercise at CFBR. We are big supporters of both organizations and we look forward to this event for the son of Andrea and Neil Kanterman’s (Hammer and Nails)”.

-Turbo Crossfit Boca Raton

“We are excited about this event because we firmly believe the importance of educating the public and young and old about those who serve on behalf of our great nation. Through this young man, he represents our future in giving back and not forgetting those that serve. Matthew is a great example and hopefully he will set a precedent for other kids throughout the community”.

-Lynelle Chauncey Zelner, Executive Director of FSO

“It makes us proud to see the next generation ‘stepping up’ and taking their place in the global community by shouldering responsibility for those that serve on our behalf both in the United States and in Israel, and thank Matthew for serving as the voice bringing awareness of our soldiers to his friends and family”.

– Betsy Horowitz, Director of Palm Beach/Broward FIDF

“Now that I am officially becoming a man according to the Jewish religion, I have realized the great sacrifices both men and women have given to insure that U.S and Israel are protected. As both democracies’ military stands up to make sure that people in their country can be safe, secure and have equality, I can give back to them both in a fun way! Israel and the U.S are close allies and we should be proud of that. We should all so thank all the women and men who serve”-Matthew Kanterman

*Both organizations are a 501c3 so we do ask that there is no campaigning for a party or a candidate at or outside any of the events.

FSO Salutes Our Troops With Blue Martini In Boca Raton – ( Boca Raton ) I have the honor of hosting the 2012 Blue Martini-Annual Salute to Our Troops event. I would like you to be part of the celebration. Red, White and Blue, Salute to Our Troops at Blue Martini Boca Raton is a benefit for Forgotten Soldiers Outreach. It is an opportunity to raise our glasses and funds for our troops. The event will be at 7:00pm-10pm on May 25, 2012, at 6000 Glades Rd in Boca Raton . (It is outside the shopping center of Town Center Mall). With local celebrities raising funds for our troops, Lou Galterio singing the National Anthem and with our opening with our very own Boca Raton High School ‘s Colored Guard. There is a $10 cash fee at the door. All candidates, elected officials and parties are invited to join us to do some campaigning not for their elections but for a campaign to make sure our troops get a little bit of home when they are serving on our behalf.

The proceeds will be donated to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach Inc. to help the mission of sending monthly “we care” packages to all of our brave young men and women who are currently serving overseas. Since 2003, FSO has been committed to our US servicemen and women by sending “a little bit of home” to assure them they are not forgotten. We send non-perishable items and letters of support directly from our National Operation Center located in the city of Lake Worth.

Since 2003, FSO has delivered over 100,000 “we care” packages filled with the essentials they miss from the states while they are serving, benefiting over 250,000 of our military personnel, to date. We also ensure that they receive thousands of letters of support from schools and non-profits in the community.

We are a 501c3 and we do ask that there will be no campaigning at the event for any party, candidate or position for or against;which includes passing out brochures, T-shirts, etc. It is important that we stay true to our mission and to our soldiers. To learn more about FSO, please go to

We are very excited to announce the launch of our USTA sponsored 10 and under tennis development program which will be kicked off with a tennis festival for kids 10 and under May 20th, 2012. This event is free for all and allows children to experience first hand the new way of children’s tennis instruction. Smaller rackets, bigger balls and smaller tennis courts are all part of this program which makes it easier for children to experience the true fun of tennis. Be on the lookout for this USTA program for 10 and under children and stop by the clubhouse for more details.

There are many other programs available for residents to enjoy during the summer months at Olympia. Please join us in welcoming and supporting all of our activities instructors and join in for the fun and fitness this summer.
