MANALAPAN, FL (September 8, 2014) The Plaza Theatre is taking theater to a new level, and to a new market this season with its dynamic new Conservatory programming. Unique programs include the Plaza Theatre Puzzle Players Autism Theatre Troupe, Clean Teen Comedy and Teen Cabaret Night and an American Idol Workshop which includes a trip to Disneyworld for the American Idol Audition Experience.

The Plaza Theatre Puzzle Players welcomes those on the Autism Spectrum to come out for a chance to gain new social and life skills training through theatrics. Led by Jeffrey Voner, Palm Beach County School District Behavioral and Autism Specialist and theater professional, the Puzzle Players learn new skills through participating in theater, music, role-playing, games, performance and more. The Players meet every Wednesday evening from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. starting September 23.

Another new program is Clean Teen Comedy and Teen Cabaret Night, which offers stand up comedy and other performance opportunities for teenagers.  Each teen is given five minutes to showcase performance-ready, family-friendly material. The next Clean Teen Comedy Night is September 20 at 7:30 p.m in ClubPlaza, the Plaza Theatre’s 80 seat cabaret space.

Finally, the Plaza Theatre Conservatory will be hosting an American Idol Workshop. Those looking for a chance at the reality show will learn techniques from professional casting directors, music instructors and audition coaches. The classes culminate with a trip with Amy Davis Travel to Disney World for the chance to participate in the American Idol Audition Experience. Classes are scheduled to start Wednesday September 23.

The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Conservatory is committed to the growth of self-confidence and essential life skills through individualized instruction in performing and communication arts training. All group classes are limited to 12 students and all performance workshops and productions are limited to no more than 35 students. Opportunities for both adults and young actors include classes, workshops and performances in the 250 seat professional theater and the more intimate cabaret space ClubPlaza.
