The finals of the 2024 opening polo tournament, The Joe Barry Memorial, was played between Forbes Plunkett and BTA was thrilling down to the final seconds.
Forbes Plunkett opening up a commanding lead only to see is gradually disappear. In fact with less than two minutes to play BTA took the lead 8-7.
With 54 seconds remaining, Forbes Plunkett’s Pipe Vercellino converted a 40-yard penalty shot to tie the game.
With only 7 seconds remaining in regulation time Lucas Escobar scored the winning goal to give Forbes Plunkett the win at 9-8.
The Forbes Plunkett team was made up of MVP Pipe Vercellino, Patron Brandon Plunkett, and the Escobar brothers Nico and Lucas.
Nachi Viana, Steve Krueger, Alfonso Pieres and Kelly Beal represented BTA.
