Every fifth grader will experience a culturally enriching performance at the Kravis Center

(West Palm Beach, FL) — The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is partnering with The School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC) to announce Curtain Up for 5th Grade!, a Community Cultural Experiences program designed to provide enriching and diverse performing arts experiences for every fifth grader in the district. The new series will run from September 24 through October 21 in the Kravis Center’s Dreyfoos Hall.

After a successful pilot year of the program under the name Community Cultural Experiences for Grade 5, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is now responsible for the funding of the Curtain Up for 5th Grade! program, sponsored by Leonard and Norma Klorfine and the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County Arts & Cultural Education Fund. This newly named program demonstrates the organization’s dedication to nurturing young minds and fostering a lifelong love for the arts.

“The Kravis Center plays a vital role in the cultural landscape of Palm Beach County and it’s an honor to support their efforts in bringing the arts to every fifth grader in the community,” said Norma Klorfine. “We believe in the transformative power of the arts and this program ensures that all students have the opportunity to be inspired.”

The programwill offer seven interactive performances, each carefully selected to engage and captivate the fifth-grade audience. The ethnically diverse and culturally relevant presentations will feature music concerts, dance performances and a storytelling exploration.

Curtain Up for 5th Grade! is a program of shared theater experiences that aims to inspire fifth graders by fostering cultural appreciation, igniting creativity and encouraging artistic expression,” said Tracy C. Butler, Director of Education for the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

The Kravis Center’s Director of Education, Tracy C. Butler, and Education Manager, Keena Gumbinner, were recently awarded plaques by the School District of Palm Beach County’s K-12 Arts Education Program Planner, Cleve Maloon, for “appreciation and recognition of their outstanding dedication, exceptional service and individual contributions to The School District of Palm Beach County, K-12 Arts Education.”
