On Saturday, February 8 at 10:30 a.m., children can sit in The Symphonia’s dress rehearsal, then get to learn how to write basic music rhythms and create their own, learn about the composers Zwilich and Beethoven, and meet conductor James Judd and soloists Elissa Lee Koljonen and Yumi Kendall. Children are free. Adults are $5 each. Reservations are required. This Meet the Orchestra is part of The Symphonia’s weekend celebrating Beethoven’s 250th Birthday. Third Connoisseur Concert of the Season Features Guest Conductor James Judd
Boca Raton, FL (January 13, 2020)—On February 9, The SYMPHONIA, South Florida’s world-class chamber orchestra, will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday with works by the great master, as well as Ellen Taaffe Zwilich – the first female composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music. The third concert in the annual Connoisseur Concert Series will feature Guest Conductor James Judd with Elissa Lee Koljonen, violin soloist and Yumi Kendall, cello soloist. The concert takes place on Sunday, February 9 at 3 p.m. at Roberts Theater at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton. ‘Happy Birthday Beethoven’ is part of the Marleen Forkas Connoisseur Concert Series ‘Celebrating Women in Music.’

Ticket holders are also invited to participate in a complimentary Pre-Concert Conversation with the conductor from 2-2:30 p.m. to learn more about the works to be performed.

Box Lunch Series | Luncheon With Strings
On Friday, February 7 at 11:30 a.m., Guest Conductor James Judd will speak about the February 9 concert, featuring the enchanting work of Zwilich and Beethoven. The Symphonia will preview the pieces that will be performed, with soloists Elissa Lee Koljonen (violin) and Yumi Kendall (cello). Box Lunch Series is held at the Unitarian Church, 2601 St. Andrews Boulevard, Boca Raton. Admission is $35 and includes lunch.
