WEST PALM BEACH, FL (July 14, 2023) — USA TODAY 10 Best voters have named the West Palm Beach GreenMarket the “Best Farmers Market” in the country for a third consecutive year. A panel of relevant experts selected 20 nominees to compete in the Readers’ Choice poll. Then the public determined the best market in the nation via voting. Fans and friends of the Market could vote once daily for four weeks. The contest closed on July 3, 2023.

“We are honored to be once again named the ‘Best Farmers Market’ in the country,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “We are grateful to our community for making this possible, especially those who participate and support our market week after week, including our vendors, sponsors, and marketgoers. I’d also like to thank our Community Events Division for putting together such an impressive market year after year.”

In celebration of the nomination, the City announced three pop-up mini-Markets, aptly nicknamed “The Mini.” More than 40 new and returning vendors popped up weekly on the Great Lawn during the out-of-season affair to give a sneak peek into what to expect for the upcoming season. Due to popular demand, the evening summer markets have been extended through August 31, 2023. The Mini runs during Clematis by Night from 6 – 9 p.m. on Thursdays.

“Over the past nearly 30 years, our GreenMarket has grown into a must-see experience for locals and visitors to enjoy,” said Mary Pinak, community events manager for the City of West Palm Beach. “This honor is a great recognition of everyone involved over the years to make the Market what it is today. We hope everyone will come to ‘The Mini’ to get a taste of what’s to come when the full Market returns in October.”

10Best Readers’ Choice Awards highlight the best of the best in different categories, such as travel, dining, destinations, and more. The City was the only Florida market to be nominated in the top 20 list, and it came out on top ahead of markets in other highly desirable geographies, including Chicago, San Diego, and Honolulu. The final top 10 are:

  1. West Palm Beach GreenMarket
  2. Collingswood Farmers’ Market
  3. Green City Market
  4. Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market
  1. Pearl Farmers Market
  2. Mill City Farmers Market
  3. Ferry Plaza Farmers Market
  4. Santa Monica Farmers Market
  5. Ann Arbor Farmers Market
  6. Kaka’ako Farmers Market

This past season, the GreenMarket had its largest market to date with a record-setting 110 vendors, which resulted in a physical expansion of the Market to the 200 block of Clematis Street. The Market’s mission is to provide the community seasonal access to locally grown fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, plants, and agricultural products. The Market supports the southeast Florida agricultural community and stimulates agricultural development, particularly in Palm Beach County, by providing an outlet for locally grown crops and specialty products. The West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been featured in The Boston Globe and named the number one green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine. The GreenMarket will reopen for its 29th season with another record-setting 125 vendors on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
